  • Here is a strong image which has only 3 ingredients: white, grey and a few powerful strokes of black. The vast expanse of flat snow covered space is put into scale by the endless line of pylons. Your composition is precise and minimal, it is beautiful and hard and bleak, the two contrasting symmetrical halves collide and draw a strong and compelling horizon. The pylons are exactly where they must be… Great shots can look so easy but that is far from the truth. Very well done, you are the winner and in a class of your own this round.

  • First of all, i would like to thanks the I-SHOT-IT team and the judges. I'm really happy to win this round. I took this pic during a winter photo road trip in Iceland. The snow, the cold and really windy conditions make that kind of pic difficult to shoot. This is a long exposure taken with a Nikon D750 / 24-70 2.8 / ND filters / tripod. Thank you.

  • Lovely tones and shapes make this picture so easy to admire. The movement of the water and the clouds make the mountains stand out hard against the background. You have captured this watery scene quite beautifully, well done.

  • I´m very pleased to be a finalist with 2 pictures at this competition. Many thanks for judging and Mark of Exellence. This shot was taken early in the morning at South-China. The timetable to capture this mystic scene and lights was only 10 minutes then the first sunbeams came through the clouds and the color was changing. At the beginning of this shooting my first thought was "Jurassic Park" . Congratulation to the winner!

  • This is such an intriguing and subtly composed shot, a lovely minimal view with delicate lines dark tones and important texture.

  • Wow, thank you for the MoE! This shot was taken in early Ocotober in North East Iceland somewhere along the road. I just really liked the minimalism of the black lavafield in front of those mountains covered in a thin layer of snow, which still revealed the textures underneath. Shot with Canon 1D Mark III and a 16-35mm lens.

  • Lovely sunlight breaks up the foreground and enhances the layers of this enchanting photograph. Your composition brings depth and a clever frame for the impressive Skogafoss.

  • Thank you for this mark of excellence. It was a treat to experience Skogafoss under such magical lighting conditions. I tried to bring this element out in the image. First I had to wait for the setting sun to break through the clouds. This beautifully backlit the mist from the waterfall, and brought out the semblance of a face in the rock feature to the left. This is a composite of three images, shot handheld, and manually blended in Lightroom. It was taken on a Canon EOS 6D with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L lens. Thanks again, and congratulations to the winner.

  • Striking sunset colours and nice movement in the water bring the mood to this photograph and the line of the water’s edge leads the eye into the midst. Lovely.

  • Beautiful ice blocks like the diamonds in the sun sparkle on the black beach Breiðamerkursandur in Iceland and transform it into a glowing field of ice. The whole beach is covered with chunks of ice which brings up a really mysterious atmosphere. I was able to witness this miracle when deep red turned into bright orange while the glowing ice blocks were torn around by the sea. Absolutely gorgeous spectacle worth to see and experience. Nikon D800 + 14-24mm; f/11, 0.8s, ISO 200 Post processing - Exposure correction, colour and contrast adjustments.

  • Clever exposure and passing time have reduced this scene into a minimal composition of lines and shapes. I love the cold tones and the totally empty foreground that we must look beyond.

  • A lovely colourful scene where the beautiful lines of nature contrast with the hard lines and blocks made by man. The village and the fields seem to be pushing the wilderness back beyond the hills.

  • Many thanks to Duncan McArthur for judging and the comment. This is my 2. finalist picture and I´m very happy about these results. At this place I wanted to capture the sunrise. We get up early in the morning at 4:30 and climbed up the hill with headlamps. It had rained all night and it was muddy and slippery. At the first time I was disappointed about the clouds and the fog, but afterwards I found an interesting view of the scenery and shot this picture.

  • A famous view towards Mount Bromo on Java. The monochrome is an interesting choice for such a colourful scene but does help show off the texture of the land.

  • The view is beautiful and your composition too but this would have done much better with a more natural finish.
