  • We like the levels of reality in this photograph, from the classic film camera to the CD’s in the background, the elements of mirrored details in so many levels and in so many angels we never stop wondering when we look at it. The composition, tonality, idea and all come together in this photograph, and it’s the winner of this competition. Congratulations and well done!

  • Hi, this is Michael Jolliffe. Thank you for choosing my photograph, i am so excited and humbled! I had been collecting "optical objects" for a little while to experiment with reflections and layering in compositions. I had been arranging the objects on my desk and playing around with the composition to end up with this with a little x100s. Post processing in Lightroom and Silver Effects Pro.

  • Late for the airplane? What a different capture of a mid-air moment. We can figure it out, but we still can’t get it to make sense. Which is a good thing.

  • Thanks so much judges, and amazing work from the entrants this round of the black & White!. This pic was taken during the Australian Formula 1 grand prix in Melbourne. Part of the additional entertainment is the motocross jumps, and this pic was taken obviously mid jump, framed against the great sky at the time. Canon 1dx with a 200-400mm lens, converted to black and white. instagram @alexcoppel

  • The unusual background to this horse photo, as well as the dramatic light makes it appear like a dream or something unreal. All the elements are sort of well-known, it’s the mix of them that threw us off the chair and made us look. Very well done!

  • Things made to look at. When you have looked for a while you realize the men are wearing less than the women. That should make you reflect on history and society today. In any case it is a well-made photograph and we’ve never seen anything like it. Very good work!

  • We guess that if you sat behind this tattooed woman, you would like to know her and/or photograph her. In this case, the photographer did the one thing, we still want to know more. Which is a good photograph. Well done!

  • Muzaffer T Emeklier 2015. Here's a candid shot in a tram, on a hot Melbourne day. I had already noticed the tattoo work on the passenger in front of me. She raised hair for a second in the attempt to cool herself as I quickly composed the the frame and made the shot. I used a Canon Eos 3 film camera with 50mm lens with Kodak T-Max 100. I developed the film with Kodak T-max developer and scanned with an Epson V700 scanner. No further adjustments were made other than contrast on the shot as post processing.

  • Hello, I am Andrew Paquette from the Netherlands. Thanks for the Mark of Excellence! I shot this image with a Phase One DF+ and an IQ250 back with a Schneider-Kreuznach 80 mm LS lens. For lighting, I rented two Broncolor strobes. The RAW image file was edited in Capture One Pro v. 9. This image is one of about 20 fashion shots I took in and around Bangkok, Thailand as my first serious attempt at making portfolio-worthy images as a photographer. It was taken under the Rama IX bridge in Bangkok at about five in the morning with a slow shutter speed (1/4s) to capture the motion of the cars.

  • What a great honor to be recognized among such great work. I've had the pleasure of living in Tokyo the last year and I spend every bit of my spare time roaming the streets and photographing daily life here. This image was captured in Shinjuku in an area called "piss alley". The camera used was the Leica MP 240 Safari with the 50mm Summilux. Thank you! -Jasen
