  • Surprising capture and some effects that add something extraordinary to this picture. It sparkles of life and action and a daredevil behind the camera. This is our favorite we returned to many times and finally decided, this has to be the winner of the I-SHOT-IT black & white competition. Congratulations and thanks for submitting this exciting and different photograph with great storytelling and timing.

  • Many MANY thanks to the judges. It is so inspiring to see everyone's work, and I still cannot believe I was selected. Thanks you. I travelled to the beach location of Sandringham in Melbourne, Australia on a day that was set to reach up to 40 degrees. I have an Aquatech underwater housing for my Canon 5d markii and on this day I had the dome port on. The dome ports are great for achieving images half under/half over the water, and outside the water droplets on the front element can be a real issue. Its made me realise now that they can actually add to the drama of the image. Normally I would place myself on a pier and shoot the kids jumping although on this day I asked them to jump toward me, and do their best to miss me in the process. None of the other frames worked as well as this one showing their bodies in all differing stages of flight through the air. Alex Coppel Melbourne Australia instagram @alexcoppel

  • Thanks for awarding my photo Mark of Excellence. I am very honored to have been selected. My name is Davide Granata, from Rome (Italy). My passion for photography is more then 10 years old. This photo was taken in Rome, during the descent of the escalators subway; Summer 2015. Camera used is a new Leica Q, 28mm f1.7, @400iso and 1/200sec. Post processing with Lightroom and Photoshop, personal color profile and brushes of mine. This shot was really exciting in the simplicity of a teenage love; the spontaneity of a hug translates into the smile of the boy. He has an hypnotic gaze and immobilizes you; What do that look and smile say to you?

  • Hard work pays. There is something classic about this photo where we can almost hear the tired racing on the wet street and feel the focused attempt to get first despite the odds. Very nice composition and an overall feel of the photograph that communicates the struggle and wetness. Well done!

  • Wow! Great perspective and somehow the photographer got the right moment with a smile and an interesting background that completes the story and tells what is going on. We wonder if it is a selfie or how this was possible to capture.

  • Not the usual Eiffel Tower capture of Parisian legs in front. There is something telling about this, but the storytelling has to be completed by the viewer. Fresh new approach.

  • Thank you judges! This photo was taken during the 1992 Race Riots in South Central Los Angeles. I was a student at USC at the time and living on campus. During the riots, I (stupidly) went out on my Jeep Wrangler (you can see the spare tire at the lower left corner of the photo) with my Nikon FM2 and a roll of Kodak TMax. I recently discovered the old negatives and had them digitally scanned. I was pleasantly surprised by many of the images I caught that day and wanted to share them with fellow photography enthusiasts.

  • Thank you so much for the Mark of Exellence. Photo is taken in Singapore with the Ricoh GR. Waiting for the right moment was difficult indeed, but am glad to be there to take the resulting shot. Really hope it conveys the feeling of Weimar cinema expressionism. Zhiliang

  • Daring composition with empty space opposite the direction of attention. So many things could be different in this capture but we like it just as it is. Different.

  • Thanks so much for the Mark of Excellence award. It was a moment on the street when it seemed to all come together. Just as a started to raise the camera she turned to watch the traffic before crossing. When she did I framed and shot. She looked so elegant and that is what had me really watching her. I was hoping that no one would enter the frame in the background before I pushed the shutter. Thanks again, Allen Bourgeois

  • Great storytelling and great tones, with the added bonus of capturing a scenery and a culture you don’t see everyday in photographs or life. The foot in the front is what includes us in the action.

  • We don’t often have manipulated photographs here in I-SHOT-IT, but this is the exception. It’s not using photoshop to remedy a capture that wasn’t perfect but to add an idea and more elements. Maybe we don’t mind when it gets a little artsy and merges photography with other art forms. This is an excellent example of an amazing picture that surprises when you look at it. Beautiful work!

  • I photographed this chap with a Leica M (240) that I borrowed from the Leica Store Manchester (UK) for an hour or two. It was set on JPEG only capture so I could only do a limited editing in Lightroom but it worked out ok! I think helped out by the phenomenal camera. The lens was a 50mm Summilux whose bokeh is out of this world. I'm chuffed to have an award for only my 2nd submitted picture. Makes me want to go out and take more! My name is Robert Watson @watsonpicsUK and I'd like to say thanks for the favourites!

  • I'm so gratefull for the Mark of excellence and the comments from the judges. The photo is from NYC one fine summers day and this little girl couldn't take her eyes from the drunken sailor - and we shared this moment. The camera was a Leica M240 and Summilux 50mm 1.4 with a little post processing in Lightroom.

  • Graffiti painters are not easy to capture, and usually you get concerned about getting paint on the camera if you get really close. In this photograph it is all solved very elegantly, resulting in a beautiful photograph that you even have to look at for a while before you get it. Well done!
