  • Very interesting and creative composition with the runner very prominently featured in the bottom, well framed with the pilings and an interesting street corner behind. A nice sense of action and movement

  • Great colours with the red of the crowd, the red clouds of the sunset and the red of the paint on the field. Also, a great angle with the stadium and scoreboards, so well put together and seen.

  • Lauren Arndt Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI I took this photo with my iPhone 6 on November 29, 2014 when the Wisconsin Badgers won the Big Ten West Division title over the Minnesota Gophers. This was my last game as a student at the Unviersity of Wisconsin, and I brought my mom and grandma to be a part of the experience. For post processing, I used an app called Snapseed to slightly enhance the colors and drama of the photo.

  • A tropical interior, with the heat of the "jungle" suggested with vines, clientelle in t-shirts. It looks hot and steamy and the wood furniture complements the wood roof and porch. A nice sense of the shape and rhythm

  • Hello! I'm excited by this recognition. My name is Damian Queen, from Maryland, in the US. This photo was taken in February 2014, and the judges assessment is very accurate as it was a sunny 95 degree day! It was taken at Playa De Artistas restaurant in Montezuma, Costa Rica. The jungle! The Pacific Ocean is a few yards beyond the reach of the lens. Taken with my iPhone 5. Slight contrast edit, and sized down to fit upload criteria.

  • The muted scene and colour captures a sense of a cool landscape with clouds that complement the flat landscape. Its a very evocative and well conceived image, and the panoramic format accentuates the sweep and breadth of the landscape itself.

  • Thank you! The photo was taken at Santa Monica Beach during the rains. This is normally a vibrant place, with lots of parallel stories, so the stark look under the heavy skies felt rather strange, as though the past was still trapped within the empty landscape, like in an old photo. Taken with Samsung Galaxy 4, post-processing in Snapseed.

  • How can you not like the rainbow here! The turbulent sky with a storm in the background, fitful sunlight, lovely colours in the breakers and a nice frame with the trees on either side.

  • I took this off of my rental house porch on the west side of the island of Culebra in Puerto Rico. I also took plenty of photos with my DSLR and in the end, this photo from my iPhone 5 is my favorite of the bunch, hands down.

  • This image speaks of heat, a dry dusty road, ill-kept with a distinctive pothole, a journey to the hills in the background perhaps?

  • How do you capture the grandeur, the size and magnificence of buildings such as these? Why, with a pano of course! Well framed with the towers at the end, and you can put yourself in the middle of this grand square, next stop to walk through the gate ahead.

  • Thanks for your selection. What we can see, is the Praça do Comércio in Lisboa, Portugal. This Photo was shot some weeks ago with an iPhone 5. Snapseed App helped me a little with contrast enhancement and cropping. Thanks again...

  • The symmetry in the composition here is very well done, both in the architecture of the pool, the position of the monument, as well as the play of the dark/light shades between the sky and the foreground of the pool, and its reflections. A nice set of features make this a very restful image. I like the symmetry in the composition of this one, both in the architecture and the dark/light shades.

  • So many strange juxtapositions in this one, the art itself of course, it looks like it is a part of the Berlin wall, but what are the palm trees doing (reflections from the scene behind the photographer)? More questions than answers, so an interesting work and good use of the panorama to capture the disjunctive elements.

  • Thank you! These are indeed blocks from the Berlin Wall, painted by a group of street artists from Europe and Los Angeles. They are currently exhibited in LA (thus the palm trees). The main theme of the exhibition is life under surveillance since the Cold War. Taken with Samsung Galaxy 4, post-processing in Snapseed.
