National Geographic meets child soldiers. It’s a bizarre mix and makes us think. Actually, each element in itself is bizarre enough to make us think.

The Naga people are actually several dozen tribes scattered across the India and Burma border. They are well known and live "normal" lives in India, in Burma they've been locked in their remote areas for several generations due to the military regime and ongoing guerrilla. As a result of this isolation, they have kept much of their culture and traditions. They were headhunters and practiced ritual sacrifices into the 80's and still live in very basic conditions today in a remote area that's difficult to travel to. I had a chance to go there for the new year festival in 2012 but I think the area is still not open for tourism. On this image, a Naga elder in ceremony costume fronts a child playing with a plastic machine gun toy. Two generations of warriors in one image. Nikon D3s.
