A broad and wide view on a bridge and a city. When was the last time you saw a bridge photo that didn't try to show the whole bridge? Yet it communicates San Francisco very clearly, in a way we find aesthetic, attractive and that we keep looking for details. A classic capture.

Thank you I-SHOT-IT Team and jurors for taking the time and words to judge my work. It is an honor to be selected, I really appreciate the "Mark of Excellence"! My name is Dirk Nerling, I live in Germany. The photo was taken in February 2005 visiting SF on a business trip. We booked a flight above the SF bay with a seaplane, starting below the Bay Bridge. I used a Canon EOS20D with Tamron 28-75 at F8, ISO100 1/400 and 28mm. The picture was post processed with Lightroom and NIK Silver Efex.

This aerial shot pulls together many of the elements which make a photo beautiful while simultaneously reminding us of the gorgeous land that surrounds our beloved San Francisco. The undulating lines of the hill, along with the winding, clean lines of Highway101 along with the rich texture of the sea, land and hills all make the photo pleasing. The style is reminiscent of an older time, one that calls to mind the calmness and beauty of life before everyone else owned a car.
