  • Thank you for the tremendous honor of selecting my image of these spotted dolphins this round. While swimming with this pod of Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) in the cerulean waters just off of Bimini in the Bahamas, the pod made a quick direction change swimming just past my underwater rig. Many of the Spotted dolphins, particularly those found around the Bahamian waters, have become habituated to human contact, yet they always determine the outcome of the swim encounters with us humans. Captured with a Canon EOS-5D3, 8-15mm, Nauticam housing and Zen 230 Dome port. 1/400, f/9, ISO 400

  • A striking portrait of this young jaguar taken with an effective very wide aperture. Focus seems more on his nose than eye which would have been stronger still.

  • An amusing shot where we can see how the fish are avoiding the human. Nice colours and composition too.

  • Lovely colour contrast and movement for these jelly fish. Focus is soft which suits this underwater take. The vignette adds to the dark deep feel.

  • A strong bear portrait, neck deep in the water probably on his tiptoes and i suppose fishing, though he has an eye on you!

  • I was so fortunate to have everything line up in this split level shot how I envisioned it when this curious juvenile Humpback (Megaptera novaeangilae) cheekily mugged our vessel, going vertical with its rostrum poking out of the sapphire blue waters of Maui, Hawaii. This population of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangilae) are the ones that migrate down from Alaska to mate and give birth in these waters before making the long trek back to the nutrient rich feeding grounds in Alaska. Canon EOS-5D3, 8-15mm Nauticam housing, Zen 230 dome port f/6.3, 1/1600, ISO 640

  • Well this is an eye opening and just gruesome shot. The stoat in its lovely winter coat on a kill. They are great rabbit hunters but we have never seen one like this before on this competition. Well done.

  • Thank you so much for the Mark of Excellence; much appreciated!! This scene was shot at 14,000 feet at the top of Mt Evans in Colorado. Mama Mountain Goat had positioned herself between these two large rocks, which was just the perfect thing for restless baby to jump over her; good practice for a young mountain goat! Photo taken at close range with a Nikon D4S camera and Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens. 1/1600 sec, f/16, ISO 640. Find me on Facebook at judi.dressler
