- In a field (no pun) of very strong images, how could this image not be a winner? The rich tones, stunning colors and composition are certainly enough to make it a fabulous landscape, but the addition of this happy, fun-loving collie play-bowing to his owner to (perhaps) throw a ball for him, make it SO much richer, engaging, fun and certainly memorable. I have to wonder if the image would have even more impact and drama if the camera angle was a little lower? ... this would allow the owner's silhouette to stand out against the backdrop and give a more immediate sense of the action at hand. Nicely done, and congratulations on a spectacular image.

- What an absolutely fun and doggy image. I have to believe this image would have the same impact even if presented in color because of the simplicity of the elements ... grasses, daisies and dog. The focus of the collie's eyes on the viewer, the open mouth almost looking like a smile, and his tongue slopping to the side, create such a happy feel from this image. Nicely done!

- This is such a dramatic image, made even more so by the choice to convert to black and white. The strong contrast from the deep blacks of the shadows and the bright white of the dog's shoulders illuminated by the light beyond the open door, create a richness even in the simplicity of the composition. Nicely done.

- What a fabulous action image, and the epitome of border collie. The swirling dust, the backlighting, the tones ... all work to create drama and keep our focus on this incredible working dog. The only thing that could have made this image stronger is even just a hint of what the collie is herding ... the leg of a cow, the rump of a sheep. Nicely done!

- This is such a dog image ... a day of freedom on the shore, the wind catching this dog's ears and hair . Beautiful contrast of tones between the reddish dog and the stormy blue sky. Nicely done!

- This is a dramatic image and a lovely landscape image featuring a dog. I do feel that the stance of the dog weakens the overall feel of the image as it appears to be cowering just slightly, bringing a certain tension to the image overall. I think that a different, stronger stance in the dog would make this location/image even more dramatic. Nicely done.

- This is a wonderfully dramatic image due to the contrast between the subject and the landscape. I think this image would benefit from a shift in the framing, bringing the dog more into the left of the frame using the rule of thirds, and seeing a little more of the landscape to the right. I also think that some lightening of the landscape to reveal a few more details would create more interest overall yet not compromise the dramatic contrast you are after. Nicely done!

- What a wonderful capture of this dog enjoying fetch in the water. The splashing of the water and the spray off of the dog's tail is wonderful, almost framing this happy dog. Nicely done.

- This is such a dreamy image with a lovely shallow depth of field and great focus on the resting dog. Even though the image is subtle, the variety of tones and textures allows the viewer to move through the frame, and always end up on the sweet dog. Nicely done.

- What a fabulously fun image of this small dog leaping through the snow. Wonderful action shot; great capture!
