  • This image was an immediate favorite. The wonderful depth of field and bokeh, the stunning tones and light, not to mention an absolutely beautiful horse all make for a highly memorable image. The cock of the horse's head and toss of it's forelock only add to the magic of this image. Nicely done and congrats! ~ illona

  • Thank you so much for one more "Mark of Excellence". I am very happy about it. I am a hobby photographer from Bavaria in Germany. I took this picture with my Canon 80d camera and my Canon 70-200 mm lens. The picture shows my own two Fjord horses "Jora" (left) and "Krishan" (right). They are my clowns and always my favorite models.

  • This photo was taken in the first light of a chilly November day with a Nikon D750 and the Nikon 105 mm Makro. These precious Przewalski Horses live on a vast military training ground in southern Germany. The grounds were closed down some years ago and are now changed into a thriving wildlife sanctuary. The horses have this most favorite scratching tree: this willow is big, gnarly and heavily worn. This yearling was enjoying a good long scratch, but the mare in the back was not amused at all and demanded that it would be her turn now :)

  • This is a stunning and dramatic image, not just in its capture and the tension created by the horse's eye making connection with the viewer, but also in its deep blacks and clean contrast. The leading line of the horse's rump and neck, drawing our attention continually to his eyes, is absolutely wonderful. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • What an incredible capture and fun image. The shallow depth of field really allows this frisky foal to stand out and almost pop from the image. Nicely done. ~ illona
