  • Congratulations for this lovely photograph. It is simple, minimal, and beautiful to behold. The pastels are as soft as the light, your composition is balanced, the feel is nice and airy. You have made a picture without any obvious subject matter and let your creativity lead you. Well done, you win this round.

  • What an honour, thank you very much ! Really happy to finally have won this competition, which I always enjoy to participate to. Plus, your judgments are always full of sense and interesting to read. This picture was taken a month ago in the national park of the High Fens in Belgium. Again, many thanks!

  • Sometimes things just seem to momentarily come together in a special complimentary way, but mostly we miss those opportunities because the camera’s in the boot, or at home, or because we don’t react fast enough. This looks like one of those moments except that you have really nailed it!

  • Thank you for the Mark of Excellence. My name is Lisa Kee and I am a hobbyist photographer from Missouri. This image was taken while in Utah photographing wild horses. I had always dreamed of getting an image of a wild horse with a rainbow and when this stormed moved in I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time. Canon 7D, Canon 100-400mmII. Lightly processed in Lightroom 3.

  • It is an intriguing view, how the opposite hills come together in a nice platted fashion. The view inspired you to take this very nice photograph and you have captured the nice light, well done.

  • This is a nice drone shot and an interesting unusual point of view. Well done too for getting this on a difficult weather day. The very cold tones and smudgy edges add to the appeal of this great shot.

  • You have seized the moment here, the trees make nice silhouettes and cast their shadows nicely across the fields. Your photograph is a composition of shapes and tones with just enough detail to hold the eye, nice work.

  • Thank you for the award of excellence! I took this photograph in the Peak District National Park in England. This particular area is called Hope Valley and it was photographed from a vantage point called Mam Tor. The weather was very pleasant that morning and we had beautiful fog in the valley. I was shooting the sunrise when I saw the shadows cast by the trees in the fog. I swapped my wide angle lens to a zoom lens and tried to find an angle to capture the essence of this breathtaking scene.

  • In this damp and mossy forest where impossibly twisted vegetation sways around quite spookily there is only one way out. Well done, you have made a lovely atmosphere and a serious drawing in effect along the path.

  • This is a beautifully taken photograph with a nice graphic composition and captured light. But is your crop not a little too tight, cramping things up, preventing us from really breathing out in awe?

  • A dizzying aerial view with exciting shapes and colours but somehow the definition just isn’t quite there to hold the eye. The focus looks good, is it maybe a shutter speed issue? Or is it just too compressed?

  • What an incredible array of farm art. Shapes, colors, lines and a clever composition. I wonder if you are a drone or someone in a hot air balloon? In any case it is a nice photo. I can imagine being there, with such a graphically interesting view before me, taking so many different compositions !
