  • Oh my ... the only thing I don't like about this photo is the fact that I didn't take it! :) This is just an incredible silhouette image, right down to the hints of the stars in the sky, but - most significantly - the fabulous capture/pose of this dancing whippet (?). I do find that the vignetting is a little heavy, but otherwise, this is just a tremendous image. Congrats and thanks for sharing! ~ illona

  • Oh my, but this was a very tough competition this time around, with SO many instant faves and incredible images. Please know that it was tough to choose an ultimate winner and this image is easily one of my favorite dog images yet. The conversion to black-and-white, with the dark foliage pressing up against the glass behind the dog, and the light highlight his muzzle and head in contrast, is simply stunning. There is great mystery to this image as the setting is quite unique and a little confusing, but this only leads the viewer to wonder and create their own possible stories with this image. Wonderfully set up, shot and managed in post. Congrats. ~ illona

  • Oh, but how I do love this image ... the receding line of the boardwalk, and the angle of the railing in the background ... all leading to this great dog bracing himself against the wind. The post work on this image is fabulous ... wonderful tones and a dramatic sky. Beautifully seen, captured and managed in post. ~ illona

  • Many thanks for your kind words. I love this dog in the scenery. We visited AMRUM, one of the North Frisian Islands...and we had so much wind...he just stood there watching the scenery….I was able to take this shot. I added some more dramatic sky and changed the tones in post…. Thanks again, warm regards, Heike Willers

  • What a great capture and image. I'm not sure if it's the post production work on this that makes the proportions seem a little confusion, or if the arches are of a smaller dimension, but this running dachshund looks huge in this colonnade. Still, a wonderful and impactful image. ~ illona

  • Thank you so much for choosing my Image. And...yes...I edited this shot, but the colonnade is an old and smaller one, so that makes my dog look huge. And...of Course...he IS a huge dog, like Dachshunds Always are :-))) Thanks! It's a big Honor for me. Greetz, Heike Willers

  • Although I don't like how matted and unkempt the poor dog in the front appears to be, this is certainly a fun, very story-telling image. The little dog in the back with his chin on the bicycle seat is precious, and the locked gaze of all four dogs is wonderful. The conversion to black-and-white give this image a gritty feel and even though I think the whites on the little dogs could be boosted just a bit more, it is a strong image. Nicely seen and captured. ~ illona

  • What a fabulously creative image. The dark mysterious shadows and simple tones draw us in to view what is left of this abandoned car and the gorgeous Weimaraner hiding in the trunk. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • The soft tones and simple backdrop of this image, along with the lower angle, give this photo an almost intimate feeling ... allowing the viewer to feel as though they are right there, on this snow walk with wagging dog. Nicely seen and captured. ~ illona

  • This image brought an immediate smile to my face ... the way this old dog has just settled back into her perch on the rocks. Gorgeous tones with the blue sky and the warm grasses. The variety of textures - from the clouds to the grasses, the lichen on the rocks and this great dog - give the viewer's eye plenty to take in. Lovely job. ~ illona

  • This is such a fun, story-telling image. The conversion to black-and-white keeps the story simple as we focus on these three curious dogs. Nicely seen and captured. ~ illona

  • This is a lovely image, with strong framing and great use of lines with the fallen trees. I do find that the border collie is lost somewhat in the busy forest setting, and wonder if the image had not been converted to black-and-white, if the dog may have stood out a little more. Either way, this is great vision and a wonderful capture. ~ illona
