  • I do appreciate the opportunity to participate and get noticed at Flower Photo Competition. The picture was taken in city suburbs just before the New Year's eve. The day was sunny and chilly, first snow covered the land with tiny bright icicles. I used a 70-200mm zoom lens along with a Canon 650D camera with its settings set to F-9, 1/400, and ISO-100.

  • I found this beautiful buttercup flower in a restaurant in Rome, last spring. The table was simple, set with a white tablecloth and a little green glass bottle with these amazing spring flower. I took the picture from above.

  • The atmosphere in this photograph draws the observer right in, ferry-tale like. The rain, or mist gives it a different layer, which adds complexity. Really beautiful!

  • The chosen focal point and depth of field make this little yellow flowers stand out from their background. Looking a bit closer and discovering the details of a spidernet and spider is what makes this photo even more special.

  • In this image we like the dreamy quality, with the sun coming in low. In this case it is not about one flower, here we have an entire field of flowers! The out of focus background creates a nice story within this photograph.

  • This photo is hard to be ignored! That wasp (or may it be some kind of fly) is so in focus, which is remarkable.Showing this image in portrait format underlines the beautiful long stem of this flower.

  • Sometimes the I-Shot-It team comes across a black and white flower which is superbly executed. This is a grand example for such flower. The contrast, with shades from white to black, shows that the photographer who is behind this image know his/her trade well.

  • Thank you so much. I’m honored. My name is Chihoko. This lily is orange. When I take pictures of flowers, words are born first.I took away the flower’s color. Because,I know the Orange lily of flower language. In Japan, it’s "Thoughtless" In the West, it’s "Hatred”.But I wanted to consider the reasons leading to it. Therefore, it was necessary to make it black and white. It is one of the reasons why I stick to black and white.Thank you again for choosing. From bottom of my heart.

  • Much thanks for the recognition! My name is Fon, and I live in North Carolina. I have been a photographer for nearly 40 years. I shoot portraits and headshots, as well as events like concerts, horse shows, and sports. I also love wildlife and nature, and on this day I was in a local park looking for birds. I was shooting with my Nikon D7500 and 200-500mm lens. Not what I would normally shoot flowers with, but, the Mimosa, is a tree. Also known as the Persian Silk Tree, it is an imported decorative, that has come to be considered invasive, because it is highly adaptable and easily spread. Still, I find them beautiful and fascinating. The smell is wonderfully sweet, and the beautiful green leaves actually fold up at night. I took this shot of a branch caught in a ray of light, at 500mm using a monopod, ISO 400, 1/200, at f/10.

  • The dynamic in this image, how we have horizontal mixed with dots and verticals is beautifully seen. Black and white works well in this case, in makes the observer being focused on the important, on the image structure. Having the flower slightly off centered is also an element which makes this photo balanced.
