  • Little Miss Unicorn is having a blast! A great moment in black and white! I love all the details - you can see every little water drop. Her surrounding fits perfectly to this scene. I love the play between the background and the foreground! Congratulation for this beautiful first place image!

  • A real cool black and white shot. Also a reduction to the essential. Your photo is really "Clean"- you only show what is necessary to understand it. An interesting framing and composition! Great!

  • This image called "Life" was captured in Austria, Graz in my Newborn home studio. With newborns you have to be really fast because what you might think might be a calm and relaxing situation is really. just. not. :) Sometimes you have seconds, maybe minutes to get your stuff together before the baby awakes. The shot was captured with a Canon EOS 6D and a cheap kit lens. It's not the equipment that makes the picture. Also I shot it at about f5 and focused on the little lashes. The image was shot in monochrome mode, so I did nothing in post processing. On baby's face fell natural light directly through the window, which I diffused with a big white and transparent curtain.

  • This was shot at the park in our small town, in Iowa. It was both my son’s and mine day off. “Hooray hooray no school today” I feel it perfectly captures his personality. The camera used was a Nikon D3200 with a 50mm 1.8 lens. -Hannah Kadinger

  • An unobserved moment! I like the contrasts between the two light situation- the warm and the cold light. The moment has a real special mood through these lights-like in a movie.

  • A strong black and white picture with a lot of details. You can see many faces with different kind of feelings and expressions. Really interesting to look, also because of the reflection of the window. Well done!

  • A beautiful and natural looking portrait. It looks soft because there a no strong contrasts, some pieces are a little to bright but the situation you have captured is natural and honest!

  • Srdjan Jovanović. This photo of a street child was taken on a business trip to Khartoum (Sudan) in 2013. I was fortunate enough to have my camera ready when she popped on the window of our cab, as we stopped at the traffic light. While looking for the right angle from the back seat, she smiled and waved the finger showing she realized my intention. I snapped the trigger and the moment was captured. Camera used: Canon 5d mark II with Canon 50 mm, f 1,4 lens. Basically there is no post-processing on this photo, apart for some minor light balance adjustment.
