  • A quite unusual photo but I came back to it again and again. I like the play of the colors in it. Also the unusual composition. Each person is acting different and fits perfectly to the picture. It looks dynamic- really interesting to look at. The structure of the background fits perfectly to this scene. Looks a bit like a stage. Congratulations to the winner of this competition!

  • Thank you so much to the judges first of all! My name is Pier Luigi Dodi from Italy. This photo was taken in Playa Tarará, La Habana, Cuba at 5:30 pm. I was going to the beach with my family. It was really hot. I saw people playing squash. Oh my God I thought! How can they manage!!! The colors were really bright and I was attracted by the shadows. I Shot it with iPhone 6 Plus.

  • One of the best pictures from this competition! Timeless … could be also a scene from the 60's. I like the grain and the "old-fashioned" look. A perfect composition, perfectly in balance!

  • A quite serious game! You can almost feel the concentration and tension in the air. You did the framing in a good way. I like the composition a lot! Also the beautiful black and white tones. Well done!

  • Looks like he is waiting for his love but she didn't arrive in time? Or maybe she never will…..? I am impressed by this little story you have created in you picture. You captured an honest moment full of emotions! Great!

  • Thank you very much. This picture is for me a symbol for a rusted marriage. It gives the impression that the man turns away from his wife. You can see the frustration and the boredom in his face. To get away from the action in the train cabin, he stares at his phone. On his right hand a forgotten wedding ring. It would make me happy if you follow me on instagram :-) @picturepharmacy

  • This photo could be a scene from a movie. You tell a story with quite simple things….. A focus on the essential. Love it!

  • I remember….in the 90's Punks had often rats on their necks and walked around with them. Looks like cats are the new rats… I really like the moment you have captured. A good angle for this portrait and also a nice composition - it looks dynamic!

  • Howdy! Thank you very much for selecting my photo, and I am honored! My name is Kelly O'Brien and I am an Austin, Texas native living in Los Angeles. This photo was shot with a Nikon D7000 and edited with Adobe Lightroom. I happened to be walking to an event near Hollywood Blvd, when I spotted this interesting character. More so, he had a cat on his shoulder! I had my camera on me, and really wanted to take his photo, but I didn't know how he would react. He approached me and asked me for a cigarette, and I saw this as a good opportunity and seized it -- told him I would give him one in exchange for allowing me to take photos of him. Told him not to pose or look at the camera, and got a few shots! It was a great moment of spontaniety, and I post-processed it in such a way to add more grit and grunge to the photo to reflect the personality and beingness of the subject.
