  • Wow!!! Thank you so much. I'm deeply honored that you chose my photo for first place among all the beautiful entries. I'm Nina Bradica and I took this photo at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens back in August 2017. It's one of my favorite places to go to take pictures of the beautiful flowers they have. I used a FUJIFILM FinePix S1 Digital camera. Post processing was done in Corel Paintshop Pro.

  • What makes this image so intriguing, is how the tall and skinny flowers have a wooden fence as backdrop, which is also long and skinny. The vivid colors of the flowers make them stand out. A very nice photo indeed!

  • The reflections in the water of this dreamy water lily give depths to this photo which works very well. Also all those shades of pink are rather stunning.

  • This photo actually puts a smile on my face, while judging this flower competition. Very funny, how only ’the other half’ of this bee is visible. The depth of field here is well chosen, and the yellow of this flower really makes that bee stand out.

  • We really like the colors in this photo. Simple and beautiful. Very well seen and framed. Also, that this cactus is not being put straight in the frame is a plus.

  • The high contrast in this image in B&W works very well here. A minimalistic approach to flowers, which have such complex appearance .

  • The play with light and shadow, as well as the rich purple and green looks amazing. Also superb, how all those details of the leaves are being available to our eyes, as the observer.

  • Thank you very much for this Mark of Excellence. My name is Aleksandra Debiczak and I'm fully qualified photographer based in Glasgow, UK. I took this photo in my kitchen where the natural light that comes through the window creates some interesting shadows on a sunny day. On that day, I let window light do its job. The image was taken with Nikon D800E and Nikkor 50mm lens. To post process this photo I used Adobe Photoshop CC.

  • The first thing when looking at this photo, is making sure that the extremely long antenna from this grasshopper did not get cut off. And they didn’t! This photograph is very nice and lively, with a lightness to it.

  • Thank you for the award. Tomasz Rys - I am an amateur who has been trying for a good picture for over 50 years. Date and place of the photo: 26.05.2007, Kraków, Poland. The garden of my parents lives in harmony and in the cycle of nature. Late in the evening, after the rain, on the huge flower of the peony sat a beautiful green grasshopper ... and probably dreamed of singing in his own way. Leica D-LUX 3, ISO 100, 6.3 mm, 1/200, F / 5.6.
