  • This is such a impactful image and an immediate favorite. The strong lines and framing, the deep black and clean whites, plus the variety of textures, all lead the viewer's eye throughout the frame to find new elements at every viewing. I do find the dangling rope (?) against teh wall to be something of a distraction and if it were my image I would edit it out, but otherwise, a very strong and stunning image. Congratulations! ~ illona

  • This is such a fabulous image and every detail about it is just perfect -- the horse's alert expression and attention towards something out of frame, the texture of the windblown grass, the sand dune, and even the subtle clouds in the sky ... all make for a strong and stunning image that the viewer can revisit to see new things. Wonderful job! ~ illona

  • Thanks Ilona! I am Marion Schoening - equinephotographer from Berlin-Germany. This image was taken during a photoworkshop, in which I participated on Rømø. The mare was so well trained (her owner is a girl who works with her in total liberty), that she stands still, till I got this pic. It was taken with my Nikon D750, Nikkor 70-200 2.8. There will be another workshop next year - mail me for infos.

  • My name is Valentina Goeck and I'm a graphic designer and pet photographer living in the middle of Germany. I love travelling around the world to take pictures of horses. These two ponies (Connemara & Exmoor Pony) are owned by a friend who's living on a little farm close to Osnabrück, so when I visited her in march I was able to take this picture. I took the picture with my Canon 5D Mark III and the 70-200mm F2.8 and edited it in Lightroom and Photoshop. The rays of sunlight on top of the image are real. Thank you very much for this Mark of Excellence!

  • This image is simply fantastic. The focus on the distance horses with the blurred grasses in the foreground make it feel as though we ourselves are lying on this knoll, under an expansive sky, observing these two resting horses. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • Thank you very much Illona ... my name is Isidro and I am a passionate photographer for what I see and stares at me. I live in the Azores - Portugal, where green and blue are the predominant colors and the sky is constantly changing. This record was made with a Canon EOS 7D Mkii + Canon EFL 70 -200. In the edition of the register I tried to be as faithful to what my eyes saw as keeping it as natural as possible. Thank you very much for your appreciation.

  • What a stunning capture and image. The beach setting is unique for this magnificent horse and the barren landscape allows the viewer's eye to continue to take in the beautiful lines of this animal. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • The wide angle of this photo places us right in the scene with this herd of ponies, and the focus of the lead pony draws us into the cold, wintry landscape. Beautiful capture and management in post. ~ illona

  • This is a fabulous eye image. The shallow depth of field and the fact that the closeup of the horse's face fills the frame, allows the viewer to focus on the details in the eye, the lashes, and the mane. Beautiful job. ~ illona
