  • This is a stunning and surprising picture right into the mouth of the very rare snow leopard. I am puzzled as to how you managed this, the proximity, the snow, the dark, the flash, the misty atmosphere and of course that yawn, all coming together beautifully. The result is striking. I suppose this is from a remote camera trap (?) in which case your research and camera management have proven to be priceless. You are this round’s worthy winner congratulations!

  • Thank you so much for selecting my photo! This is a captive snow leopard that is part of the Species Survival Plan at the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, NJ. The misty background was created by using a texture layer and the leopard was naturally lit by the snow that was on the ground. I used a Canon 7D and a Canon 100-400L lens.

  • I love the movement and the low angle, it is a beautiful, delicate portrait of such a powerful beast. The elephant seems to be coming straight out of the photograph, the movement of the water from its trunk and the rings on the pond adding to that, as does the clever local contrast adjustment. Well done.

  • The shot was taken in South Africa, during the dry season, in 2016. An elephant came to a puddle to drink and play with water. Nikon D800E with Nikon 24-70 f2.8.

  • Oh this is so sweet, showing us the playful side of these very nimble mountain goats. It is a well-timed shot and i guess one of a series, well done.

  • Thank you for the Mark Of Excellence! My name is Lisa Kee. I am a hobbyist photographer from Missouri. This image was taken while on a trip to Colorado on top of Mt. Evans. These siblings were playing on this large boulder and I was lucky to get the "jump". Canon 7D, Canon 500mm f/4.5 lens, ISO 400, f/7.1 @1/2500th. Processed in LR3.

  • You have seized the action here beautifully. The short depth of field brings a nice wild feel to the whole picture, to the wooded scene thanks to the blurry fore and backgrounds, and to the fierce look on fox’s face.

  • This is a strong and simple image. It is a fun and clever long lens portrait, showing off this big horned sheep’s rather extra-terrestrial, wide-eyed glare between those magnificent horns. Well done.

  • Beautiful tones and warm camouflaging colours frame that central eye perfectly. There is something so peaceful about this lion’s gaze.

  • This is a rare shot of a swimming deer, add to that the perfect reflection… The green and the red set each other off so well and the symmetry of the reflection creates that powerful cross shape holding our attention.

  • This photo was captured from my hobbie kayak on East Fork Lake in Batavia Ohio using a Canon 7dmk2/100-400mm. I was waiting for the beaver to start thier daily building when I heard a spash and saw this little deer swimming right at me. I managed to snap a few shots before herding the little guy over to the bank and back into the woods. The color of the water from the alge and the color of the deer where truly a great wildeness experience.

  • Nice low light and a clever pan make a fine shot. You have created the movement and brought us a taste of the daily stress faced by the wildebeest, and of their life as the daily bread for others on the plains of the savannah.
