  • Congratulations to the winner of the I-Shot-it city contest for a fantastic image! Juxtaposing urban greenery and concrete factory creates an interesting storyline and intrigue. The clean feeling of the image, excellent framing choice, and crisp rendering all help the story, but the repetition of shapes in both halves really tie the two sides together. The person walking in the foreground completes the composition. Well done!

  • This shot of Battersea Power Station in London was made in 2007. The camera I used was Nikon D2Xs with 17-55mm lens, 200 ISO. There was a brief period when the power station was open to general public and we naturally jumped at the opportunity. It was a beautiful day with pristine blue sky with not a single cloud in view, and with this picturesque fence in front of the power station I immediately saw an opportunity for a perfect shot. All I had to wait for was a passer-by.

  • Children frolicking at the water side is a classic theme and always enjoyable to view as it invokes some shared feelings or memories. This image is nicely composed and executed. Good timing on the shot!

  • We enjoyed the novel and creative ideas that went into the framing of this image. The striations in the clouds do help echo the shapes in the window shutter and blinds. Without those patterns to tie everything together the image may not work as well. If only the color of the clouds could match more the window blinds, but the geometry and balance of the composition is excellent. Great idea!

  • Thank you! My name is Joseba Iriarte. I took this photo in my city, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava, Basque Country, Spain while going for a walk in Mariturri, a place where there are many buildings with modern facades like this and I think there is many more than this photo to take. I am an amateur photographer and I take photos for fun. And always wanting to learn. I used a Canon 80D camera with a Canon EF-S 55-250 IS II lens and processed on Adobe LR, Adobe PS using Nik Collection filters.

  • Painterly in feel and quality, this image also imparts a peaceful feel to it but in a more fantastical way. The choice to put the subject directly in the center of the frame also contributes to the feeling of stillness and also one of emptiness. Nicely done! Would a tighter crop change the concept and feeling?

  • Thanks. This image was shot in the Alcazar palace in Sevilla (Spain), in April 2016, using a Fujifilm x100t camera. Some spanish women would come wearing a traditional sevillan dress to get photographed in the palace. This woman is posing for her husband who is hidden by the wall on the right side of the picture. I did try to tighten the frame more but it did not work for me, I preferred the original framing giving this kind of small ceramic doll appearance as if in a miniature. By the way, congrats to the winner, very good first choice, I like it very much too.

  • The long shadow really takes on its own life in this image and the play between it and the shapes in the street and building is really engaging. Excellent image!
