  • This is such a fun image, capturing the essence of "cat". Well framed and perfect capture of this cat's expression. This image could be even stronger with a little editing, especially to remove the crumbs and dust on the floor so that the viewer's eye is not distracted in the least from that incredible expression. Congrats! ~ illona

  • This is such a fabulously framed image. A little more detail in the snow might have added to this image, but it is a very strong and memorable photo. Well done! ~ illona

  • This image's strength is in the framing and simplicity of elements, along with some great management in post converting to black-and-white. I do find that there could be more shadow on the cat, and that because of the editing the cat looks a little over-lightened and washed out. But a great capture and framing! Nicely done. ~ illona

  • This is such a fabulous shot in its simplicity, and the play of shadow with the cat. Lovely in black and white, however, with the starkness of the elements, I'm betting that it works just as well in color. Nicely done. ~ illona

  • This lovely image works well because of the depth of field, the lovely warm tones, the low level, and of course the sweet kitten. Nicely done. ~ illona

  • Thank you for the MoE! This is a feral kitten that was around our house. He is a sweetheart, him and his sister basically adopted us, I can pet both of them now and they live here as outside cats now with us. Taken with a D7100 & Nikkor 18-300mm Greetings to all of you, Nicole from Utah

  • This is a fabulous study of this cat's beautiful face ... the detail and clean processing make the various elements stand out -- the whiskers, nose, hair, and, of course, those eyes. Nicely done. ~ illona

  • Thanks so much for your kind words and for selecting this photo! I usually spend a few hours every week experimenting with lighting techniques in my tiny home studio, either on myself or on my cat. At this moment I think she was checking out the blinking lights in the softbox and I grabbed this shot. I use a Fuji X-T1 with a cheapo softbox and Yongnuo flashes. I loved looking at all of the other cat photos in this competition! :-).

  • What a fabulous street-scape / cat photo. This image offers a variety of textures, from the metal downspout to the wooden boards, the plastered brick and the old cobblestones ... so many elements for the viewer's eye to take in, yet always coming back to the cat. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • Hello! My name is Jevgenij and l live in Riga Latvia. There are some things that I can not live without – people I love, music, books, sport and photography. I love to take simple pictures about life, nature and environment. So street photo, portrait and landscape is my favorite photo categories. The photography is like a meditation for me, I can forget all my problems and troubles during the process. I took this photo in old district in Riga that used to be the Jewish ghetto during World War II.
