  • This is a truly stunning image that was an immediate favorite. While it draws strength from the black-and-white conversion, I imagine it would be equally strong in color. The strong framing, dramatic contrast, low angle, and direct stare of this shaggy, adorable pony make this image instantly memorable. Bravo! ...and thank you for sharing! ~ illona

  • Thanks everyone! My name is Bragi Ingibergsson (BRIN) and I am an amateur photographer from Iceland. I took this photo of two Icelandic horses in Borgarfjordur Iceland - one as the main subject and another in the distance framed by the horse in the front. I used Canon EOS 5D Mark II for this photo. I did not have to do very much in the post processing, not much more than increasing the contrast a bit and convert it into black and white - which I liked better.

  • And thanks again, it was a big surprise to have two photos on the top list. My name is Bragi Ingibergsson (BRIN) and I am an amateur photographer from Iceland. This photo is taken on a sunny and windy summer day. These two horses have been partners for a very long time - always together. On that decisive moment they were side by side looking in the same direction - and their manes were blowing beautifully in the wind.

  • This is a stunning and evocative image. The decision to convert to black-and-white, with deep shadows and bright highlights, makes this image standout, and allows the viewer's eye to follow the line of white horses out and into the expanse of landscape. Nicely captured and handled in post. ~ illona

  • Heading for Low Ground: This image was taken near Honey Tor on Dartmoor in Devon, UK, using my Fujifilm X100S. The clouds were rolling in and this group of grey Dartmoor Hill Ponies were coming off of the Tor and heading for low ground to avoid the worst of the coming storm.

  • This is such a unique and interesting image with the layering of the three different-colored horses. The clean background allows the viewer to truly examine the subjects, the textures and rich colors of their coats, and the details of the white horse's face. Nicely done. ~ illona

  • This is a simple yet striking image. Expert white-balance, exposure and management of light ... and the blowing mane and whiskers are a lovely detail. I feel as though it could use some extra breathing room in the right-side of the frame, taking the subject off-center. But nicely done. ~ illona

  • This is a fabulous image/concept, and is wonderfully striking with its strong contrast. I feel like the horse isn't actually in focus, as the viewer's eye is drawn to the sharper-focused leaves above. But this is a lovely image. ~ illona
