Really great piece of work. This type of lighting with a subject such as the one shown can indeed be very difficult and i often see people 'overnight' in this sort of situation but this is not the case here and the whole scene has been well executed.

Same camera and technique like the silver (Salmson) car. Only this one was the last of a set of 13 cars I did in about 5 hour timeframe at an oldtimer meeting. It made me also aware of the fact that the shadows and how to create them is even more important than just putting the car just....into....light,....so to say....! And....ones again.....thanks for the accolade....!!!!!

Its simple, its flowing, it works wonderfully. This is lighting in its purest form, not over complex and focused totally on the shape of the car and the cars surface bodywork. Well done !

Hallo Tim, thank you for the accolade. To say that I have fallen in love with the shape of this car, would be an understatement. While photographing and ligting her I was surprised at how photogenic her lines were....every angle more beautiful than the last. I used a single speedlight, double diffused to create the soft light. Another classic car and another piece of very well executed lighting. One of the things that I like about this the most apart from the lighting is that splash of colour in the darkness and also the fact that the car has been given some room and not made to fill the frame. Great piece of work

Thanks for the recognition of this photo, I really appreciate! The camera I used was a standard Canon 600d and a cheap Tamaron 18-200-mm lens. For the lightning I used a 30+ year old cullmann flashlight that I bought for 10 or 20 Euro from Ebay and a set of pixel pawn triggers. Well and there was also a very basic tripot in play. The technique is basically the same as in one of the Tim Wallace tutorials I found later on, on the kellbyone channel. I just didn't use a HDR as a base photo,....! Now for all the ones who don't know that tutorial,....I just framed the car nicely, then I set the camera on timelaps mode (10 sec a picture) and then walked all around the car with my flashlight and tried to take as much interessting shots....lightwise.....as I could. Finally I blended the single shots together in Photoshop!

Its bold, its brave and its different, but all those things are good. Its great to see some creative work like this coming throng and the drama is very clear here in this creation. My only possible piece of advice maybe to look at the shot without the light on the wall Great piece of work

Really really like this a lot. Its a very simple shot but the choice of colour grading and the fact that the car has been composed in this way and shot with a very low DOF really brings a simple shot and elevates it Well done!

My name is Joshua Holland. I am originally from New York City, but have spent many years in the midwest. This is my 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 in a residential area of Lawrence, Kansas. I bought this car from the original owner in Minnesota, who purchased it for his wife on Valentine's Day in 1967. I used an Olympus OMD E-M5 Mark II and a Panasonic Leica Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 lens (ISO 100, f/1.2, 1/1000). I used Adobe PS Lightroom and Color Efex Pro for post processing.

Thanks for the Mark of Excellence mention, first time I've entered anything at I SHOT IT (or anywhere actually). I've shot many car shows and some racing action, this was my first staged photo shoot. All informal, my friend's 1971 Dodge Challenger. We just winged it with some good results, late afternoon September sun supplying fantastic lighting. This in Kirkland, Washington, USA. Nikon D7000. 85mm, f/5.6, 1/1000s, ISO100. Not much post processing in Lightroom 6: Cropped a bit, highlights down some, clarity and sharpening bumped up a little.

Its a old Ford pickup but with some careful lighting to bring out the vintage colour and get some focus on the texture it turns into a great shot. Well done

Hallo Tim, thank you for the accolade. It was indeed the faded colour and textures of the car and its surroundings that moved me to make this image. I used a custom made light-wand to paint the car, adding directional, yet soft light to bring out the textures. The background was lit seperately and the images layered in Photoshop.
