- I was staying in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and just after dawn, walking along Burleigh Heads beach, I saw this lone fisherman - such a simple activity, enjoyed by many for thousands of years. But in the distance, Surfers Paradise, the skyscrapers were being touched by the sunrise. The simplicity of the fisherman against the modern background with the sea spray haze separating them ... I really liked that.

- Thanks for everybody's votes! My name is Jerry Cotten. I live in Lamesa, Texas and took this photo near my hometown. Lightning is one of my favorite subjects to photograph. The lightning was several miles behind the drilling rig, and the strikes were coming in the same spot each time. So, I lined up my camera on a tripod with the rig and strikes to capture this photo to look like the lightning was striking it. The company that owns the rig saw this and some other photos I took at sunrise with the rig on Facebook and ordered 4 huge prints to go in their corporate office!

- Like many of my works this is a digital collage from several photos. This particular batch was taken in Osaka, Japan from a balcony of Park Tower looking over the Tosabori river with an Olympus E-420 and Sigma wide zoom 10-20 mm at 10mm, f/4, 1/4sec, ISO-800 on April, 27th 2010. Just bought this wide lens in a second hand shop and was very happy to find myself on this balcony just at those very special 15 minutes when lights of a night city start to take over from the daylight. The collage itself was created recently, just like many others several years after the raw photos were harvested.
