  • What a truly stunning image. The black-and-white conversion with its deep blacks and clean highlights make this image immediately impactful. The framing and the positioning of the dog in relation to the stairs, the light, the doorway ... everything ... is nothing short of perfection, creating an incredible play and interaction of light and shadows that keeps the viewer's eye traveling through the image and discovering new elements each time. An absolutely brilliant and truly memorable image. Well done, and congrats! ~ illona

  • Thanks Illona for choosing my photo as winner of this round. My name is Lukas, I am from Prague and this photo was made just in front of place where I live in. Several times I thought it might be interesting place for photo just like this one but still, it took me almost year to take it :) Done with my Canon 6D and Sigma 35/1.4, processed in Lightroom.

  • What an absolutely powerful image. It is almost cinematic, reminiscent of an epic film ... one can almost imagine the hero returning home after war and his dog running down the lane to greet him. I think that this image would be more impactful with a panoramic crop, taking a little off the sky as I feel it might be diluting some of the weight from the true action. But either way, a truly wonderful and memorable image. Congrats and thank you for sharing! ~ illona

  • Also, thanks for the second place :) This one was made in place where I used to live on a really misty day. This path took my eye instantly and posing my border collie Raven was quite easy. Processed in Lightroom, Canon 6D and Sigma 35/1.4 again.

  • What a wonderful image ... the cold tones lend the photo a chilly effect, and the dog's lowered ears are almost comical, giving him a look of disdain at being out in the cold and snow. Great capture and management in post. ~ illona
