  • Photographer: Jennifer Steger Location: Birmingham, AL Camera Model: Canon Rebel T3 Shot this beauty at my mother's house. The lighting was perfect. I was able to go into my editing software and only adjust the brightness, contrast, and levels to achieve this gorgeous piece of work. Thank you so much to the judge who deemed this a winning piece. I never expected it to win!

  • This photograph is unique and brilliant. Many layers and dimensions to it. In the background we can see part of a flower which is out of focus, a spider web crisp and sharp in the foreground. Many little flowers can be seen in each of the water drops.

  • Hello everyone! My name is Alva Steury Jr,and I live in Dekalb County Indiana. Thankyou I-Shot-It for the Mark of Excellence,it is a great honor! I took this photo on a beautiful foggy morning a week or so ago. By holding the flower (which was a Black-eyed Susan) behind the spider web,I was able to get this wonderful photo. It was a little challenging because the breeze kept making the wed move! I took this photo with a Canon EOS Rebel t5, and a Canon 100mm Macro lens. I used a homemade flash diffuser to help soften the light. Thanks again I-Shot-It!

  • Is this a flower frozen in ice? Or maybe a flower wrapped in plastic? An intriguing image asking many questions. Very original and well executed.

  • Thank you to the judges for the MoE! Yes indeed this is a frozen Carnation. Shot with Nikon D7100 and macro 85mm. Post processing in PS was minimal.

  • This photo reminds the judge of this flower competition a bit of a model world. It all seems smaller than reality. But is it really, or does the filter which might have been used change realities? Also the Shell sign seem from a different time. This is a lovely capture which makes the observer dive into this “other-worldly” reality.

  • Thank you very much, I am delighted with the result and the judges’ comments. Their words reflect exactly what I had in mind when I took the photo and how images can alter our perception of reality. It was taken however in a « real » model village located in Skegness, the north shore of England. Although miniature effects are often achieved post-process which I tend to rely on occasionally, this shot was produced through the lens only with no after action or filter. A Leica camera (that helps ☺) coupled with a 35 mm and a shallow depth of field.

  • There is great motion in this image. We love how the photographer composed this photo, having the purple flowers off-centered, and also the execution of this image is very well done.

  • Thank you to the judges -- receiving a Mark of Excellence in this contest is wonderful. I took this photo from my kayak on my favorite water -- Grassy Pond. This pond teases me with its quiet water, flowers, birds, and of course, grasses. I used my Canon 7D and 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

  • Simplicity is what makes this photograph standing out from the crowed. It is superb in its own way, and we love it for that exact reason. Thank you for submitting this image to I-Shot-It!

  • Rebecca Kempton Greytown, New Zealand Canon 7D with 50mm 1.8mm lens I had picked this lily from our garden and played with different light to capture its simple form. I held it up to the setting sun with one hand and camera in the other hand. I loved how it lit the sillouette and how the dark shadow filled the front and the bright light shone through the outer edges. I used Lightroom to convert it to black and white and increased the contrast of the blacks and white.

  • These delecate flowers with their hanging heads have a bit of a sad appearance. Very beautiful and moody - and well executed.

  • This is a beautiful moody and dark image. The reflection in the water makes it even more dramatic. Like a film still.
