  • Congratulations, you win this round! Here is a well thought out shot, beautifully balanced and composed, the stars highlighted by the ice in the lake. I love the crispy ice crystals and the cold of the night light, this comes from precise focus and exposure time. Well done, it is a difficult photo to manage, you have done so perfectly - tripod in the lake, gloves on.… The (lucky) satelite adds a contrasting straight line bringing even more depth. Great work.

  • Well it was a close call, this too is a beautiful and well planned photograph. The moving clouds enhance the sharpness of the mountains and trees while giving a 3D effect to your composition. Lovely moody shot, well done.

  • Clever composition, the splashes of flowers make the foreground interesting but you have lined everything up so well, each part of the image has its own place and space, lots of sharp detail throughout. Nice shot, well done.

  • Keeping things to the absolute minimum is always effective, you have done well here with this tortured looking solitary tree. You chose the right day, the fog eliminates any distracting background leaving you with this eery silhouette.

  • This photo was shot on Madeira in April 2015. I found this tree on the top of a mountain, in the middle of a cloud. It is an surreal area that reminds me of a Tim Burton movie. Shot with Nikon D800, 26mm f/8

  • This was an instant favourite. Lovely tones and colour and composition, and a story too. This would make an original shot for the wildlife competition :-)

  • Clever use of empty space gives the flight of birds such importance. The absolute black and white is very brave and equally effective. Well done, such an original approach.

  • You have caught that wintery, cold atmosphere with snow and wind so well. I get the impression i am walking through this park thanks to your eye level viewpoint. The trees are great, well done!

  • This is perfectly taken, everything is so well placed, the calm of the sand setting off the sky detail, the unbroken wave full of hope… It is though one of those pictures we feel we have seen before, so it loses that edge which makes a winner.

  • Well spotted and composed. You have turned those unsightly plastic bale bags into an interesting spotted display, set off by your clever lines and shapes of the fields. Nice work, well done.

  • Thank you very much! This picture was taken last october in the little village of Urueña (Valladolid) with a Panasonic GX7 m 43 camera. It's strongly influenced by the art of the spanish paintor Felix Cuadrado Lomas, who really loves the minimal landscapes and the geometry of the castillian fields.
