  • Well done and congrats on the win ! A really great piece of lighting and detail work that boarders art. I really like this shot a lot and control of light here. Great shape, shadow and highlights and the tonality is good too.

  • Thank you for the award Tim. The lighting on this Aston Martin was done with a light wand developed by myself specifically for creating soft even lighting on small areas. This also allows control over the amount of reflection I want, accentuating the curves and lines of this beautiful car. This shot was done in our studio, but can be done on location as well. Nikon D700 with 50mm.

  • Brilliant piece of work that really pops out at you. Tight space to light and work in but this is a great final image I love the detail and lighting with this and the colours really work too Well done !

  • Wow thanks for the award Tim and the kind words about the image. This 1957 Chevy belongs to a friend of mine. I visited him to take photos of his collection of old petrol pumps but couldn't resist getting some his car in the garage surrounded with all the motoring memorabilia. As it was a very tight area I used a Sigma 10-20mm lens on my Canon 7D camera to get the shot, and a couple of off camera Yongnuo Speedlites to add light where I needed it. You can read more about the shoot in the link below. Thanks.

  • Its clean, its simple and it works I really like the emotion of this image and really low depth of field works very well here, I see just enough and want to see more. Good choice to go in mono for this too, great tones

  • Thank you, Tim. Excited at the honor. I am normally a straight up street photographer, but I have a passion for classic cars. So, every once in a while, while I'm out trying to capture a character in downtown LA, I'll see a car that has just as much character as any person and I can't resist taking its portrait. This photo was taken with a Leica M-P and a 50mm Noctilux, shot at .95, of course - late in the day. That's Los Angeles' Arts District in the background.

  • I really like this and wanted it too be in the final line up. It is not over processed and I love the fact that you have been brave enough to give the car some space. Great movement and overall a difficult but well executed image that has some movement within it.

  • Thanks for the award and the comment Tim. The photo is part of a series I have shot for " SAKER ", that’s a Dutch company which build circuit racers. In this case it was a street legal circuit racer. The movement in the photo is a Virtual rig. Photographer : Bob Verwiel , Location : Etten -Leur, Netherlands , Camera Canon 5D MKII. • Love this, I think its the sheer difference in ti and the tones, the tones are great and it really works. Again its good to see the car being given plenty of room so well done for that. Good solid shot and a great idea

  • Dramatic image involving two cars at different angles in low light so very deserving of being among the final line up here. Really nice lighting on this and the position is great too but what I like the most is the very low angle, in this case with these cars that works really well and gives it all the right feel, well done !

  • Its not the kind of transport we normally see on here but this is a great image that I kept coming back to, and that of course is a good indicator that the shot works when that happens. Well done I love the angle on this and the texture and tones, I don't think it would have been nearly as strong in colour so good choice

  • Frankfurt Motor Show I think as its the car that I shot for Peugoet for that very same launch. Its a show image so no lighting but its getting a mention here because for a show image with limited ability to control anything its a very good attempt to get something and the final position and the background really work well.

  • Absolutely correct! I shot this picture at Peugeot's booth at Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) earlier this year. I had a lot of "fun" because the car was turning 360° constantly and the background video was changing fast. This lead to probably 1000 variations of the picture on one hand. But on the other hand it was a lot of work to find the right combination of car angle and backround picture. I am very happy that you like the result.
