  • This is a beautiful and peaceful minimal composition with lovely balance, both left-right and top-bottom. The depth of field holds the viewer’s eye, the lines and texture keep us looking. The flat light makes soft tones and colours thanks to your perfect exposure, the cloud detail slowly creeps out bringing depth. It is a great shot, so simple and very clever - the fence posts nail it. Well done you win this round.

  • Thanks SO much! My name is Víctor Alonso and I'm a spanish photographer based in valladolid, Spain. I took this picture a couple of months ago in Tudela de Duero (Valladolid) with a canon 5d mark II and a sigma 70-200. I used adobe lightroom to process the raw and achieve the tone and color I wanted.

  • You have captured the wet and misty atmosphere of a walk in these woods just beautifully. The tonal range is complete, shadows and highlights perfectly real. The square format works well too. Beautiful work, congratulations.

  • Thank you - I am thrilled. My name is Robert Robertson from Melbourne, Australia. The photograph was taken with a Sony Rx1r on Mt. Macedon, Victoria - huddled under an umbrella in rain and mist. Post processing was done on Adobe Camera Raw with some desaturation and a little dodging and burning.

  • The sunset, the sea, the beach, the sand and stones, the lovely warm light, this is all so real…You have captured all the ingredients of this scene within this wonderfully simple shot and you have written a whole story with just a few stones. Very nice :-)

  • The photo was taken just after sunset on the North Shore of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 and a Leica DG Summilux 1.4 ASPH lens. I couldn't get my tripod as low and level as I wanted it to be, so the camera was resting on a flat-ish stone with a 2 second shutter delay. Processed in Lightroom 5 for highlights and shadows. Thank you very much for acknowledging my submission among so many fine images.

  • This is stunning and a wonderful interpretation. We see so many pontoon shots but this is both original and beautiful. I love the long exposure, all that space and the pastel colours. Well done for taking this one step beyond and managing your shoot so well.

  • Another clever photograph where a desolate scene of snow and cloud has become a picture of peace and beauty. You have really caught nature at its best by keeping this simple.

  • A subject we see often but you have done very well finding this less than usual viewpoint over Machu Picchu. A superb mix of light and dark with the sunny spell perfectly placed. Well done…

  • Thank you to the judge for picking my photo! It was captured at the top of Machu Picchu Mountain after a strenuous 1.5 hour hike. All morning the the clouds rolled through Machu Picchu and right when I reached the summit, I was able to get this perfect spotlight on these awe inspiring ruins.
