  • Composed with as many elements as a well thought-through painting, each adding life and details to a story we have to figure out by studying the photograph again and again. So many layers, and not to forget, technically well done by the photographer. This is the winner of the I SHOT IT Premium Competition 1/2015.

  • This photo was shot in South Portland, Maine, overlooking Casco Bay and the city of Portland. It was a magical foggy afternoon and this lobster boat suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and I instantly knew I got lucky and that it would make a great photograph. A passerby stopped and talked with me about how lovely the colors were on the boat and we also discussed the state of the lobster industry in Maine. Shot with a Fuji XE-1 and processed in lightroom. Thank you for the mark of excellence!

  • Extreme weather and light conditions captured as if it was a normal day in the city. The perfect union of drama and relaxed atmosphere is what we find capturing our interest.

  • Even in the most humble surroundings, a pair of nice shoes are important. Every woman knows, especially what looks to be an entertainer or special dancer.

  • Classic look as from a movie, with the twist of the piano player. There’s just something very beautiful about this lively capture.

  • Very elegant balance, as if a ballet dancer sat down and played on the piano

  • By Carl Osterly. Model: Bethany Gregory and MUA: Nhi Truong. Taken with a Canon 5D Mark II at 1/60th sec at f/4.0 ISO 100. Tonal adjustments applied in Adobe Lightroom, sharpening applied in Adobe Photoshop. Thank you for the mark of excellence! On the day of the shoot it turned out that I had accidentally double booked our studio space. As a result our team was forced to vacate and move to another room next door. Within the room was a single upright piano and Bethany immediately walked over and began to play. At that moment I realised that this would be a great prop for our shoot. Although I didn't get the studio space I had originally intended to hire, I'm glad for my mistake because we wouldn't have discovered the piano, and I would never have taken this beautiful photo of Bethany.

  • Layers of daily life, each unique, but when seen from this viewpoint it makes you reconsider things. Very simple and well working composition!

  • These houses are part of Humleby, a part of Vesterbro which is itself a district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The shot was taken from the top of the Carlsberg Group HQ in 2006 using a Leica Digilux 2. Post processing involved a small crop and a minor amount of burning in around the top half of the image to counter some mist - it was quite a dull, misty day. If you have seen the Danish TV drama series called "The Killing" you may recognise this area as some of the series was filmed on location here.

  • We like the mix of colors first, but even more the details of Jesus amongst the crosses on the train station.

  • We find this image interesting because it is truly a still photo of life, frozen in a moment to study. Not much life, but that is the interesting part because it looks to be a place that will be booming with activity later.
