  • A great and moody night-capture, with beautiful selective focus. The mysterious darkness of this image gives it the appearance of a film still. One wonders, where this flower was spotted and photographed - what city is behind? The viewer can only see some blurry lights in the background, and still it is obvious, that these light suggest tall buildings. Also the angle of how this flower was photographed, works really well.

  • Thank you for your beautiful description. I like this photo, and I am glad that you like it too. It was shot during a photo trip in Tokyo this summer, which I really enjoyed.

  • This is lively and dreamy - and the flowers being so delicate, makes this photo stand out from the rest of the others. The blurred out background could be because of motion from the wind, a narrow depths of field, or maybe post processing. This was well spotted and executed.

  • Thanks, I was hoping for a good result but I am surprised! I'm Frans Keustermans and I live in Linden, Belgium. Nature and photography fascinate me all my life. The blur is mainly due to the very selective focus, a 300mm 2.8 lens + 2x converter at full aperture on a Sony A200.

  • Many times the judge is revisiting this image to figure out what happened here. It appears, that this photo shows a sight with many new graves. All this fresh flowers and crosses suggest a graveyard. This is a beautiful and delicate image, which carries some sadness with it.

  • Mostly straight lines and geometric forms are being shown in this photo of closed tulips. This image is very simple and clear. An interesting way to photograph - this is a striking image!

  • It is an honor to have been selected from a pool of such talented photographers! I was experimenting with older manual focus lenses on a Canon T3i. This photo was taken with a Tamron SP 300mm F/2.8 60B, which does an amazing job of subject isolation. Shot at f/2.8, ISO 100.

  • The narrow depth of field make this dreamy photo so special and unique. Not a lot of colours involved, which would distract from that peaceful feeling. This is definitely one of this competition favourites!

  • Thank you for the Mark of Excellence. I am Thinh Ly from Washington D.C., USA. I usually do street photography but nature and flower photography is my guilty pleasure of sorts. I found these growing on a patio under a balcony hence the dim lighting. This was shot with 55-250mm lens. Feel free to take a look at my website for more of my work.

  • This pink rose somehow has survived until now. One would think, that the ice and coldness would have made the rose lose its beautiful colour. A lovely photograph of a winter rose.

  • This is a great example of a beautiful black and white image. Was it shot analog or digital? The grain gives it a certain appearance which is unique, and brings us back in time.

  • This is the analog bw shot of a pasque flower taken in the Crimean Mountains, Ukraine, by Minolta XD-11, MD Rokkor 50mm 1.4. A bit of contrast was added to the digitized photo. So happy to have my photo marked:) Big thanks!
