  • This photo makes you look once, twice, then a third time. Many layers with the big clock, the man, the room, the city in the background, the sky. Well done composition and storytelling.

  • Thank you for your recognition. I took this photo inside of the Orsay Museum in Paris, France, looking out at the Louvre Museum. I don't know who the person was but he was in the perfect place at the perfect time. It was rather surreal to me.

  • A beautiful postcard with depth that also makes one think where this is, and how it would be to live there. Well done in both camera and computer.

  • Good atmosphere and storytelling, great use of colors, tones and reflections. It is to a large degree up to the viewer what the story might be.

  • A very unusual portrait that captures our interest and eye. Decisive use of light and color tones make it a very special and unique portrait one will remember for a while.

  • I am a portrait-only photographer from Germany who prefers to shoot elderly people. My aim is the reflection of characteristical moods and expressions through distinctive physiognomic qualities of models to invoke a certain remembrance in the viewers mind. In this respect I try to avoid posing and the beauty docma at all cost. The characteristical aspect is actually part of yourself, the viewer, since the pictures intend to project visions of your own coinage onto my work. Or, in other words, I try to project memories of your own onto the screen to make you feel the accompanied vibe (which comes out of your own past). A short video is available at Youtube to show a comparison of a normal view at my models and the preferred view I intend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIL7_6BltJA Equipment: CANON 5D, EF 85mm f/1.8, ISO 50 German readers may want to have a look at my elaborated website by clicking on the german flag at the top right. • This is a spontaneous shot of my son when we were playing with a bubble gun. Some of the fun was just running through the bubbles. Taken with DSLR in late summer 2013. -Marko

  • This image makes us stop and look. What is going on? We kind of know, or have an idea, but then we look again to see if we understand it all. Good effect and great use of colors.

  • A quite different love story. We find our self asking questions as "Who are they?", "How did they meet?" and more. Great composition with the couple to the right makes the storytelling even better and puts their adventure into an exotic setting where they are all alone. Brilliant work.

  • This is a classic beautiful photo. We appreciate when photographers take the time to document current life with aesthetics as in this example. It has great value in the present, as well as in the future. Well done.

  • One of those moments one remembers but seldom has an image of. Here is one image that will keep their memory documented. More people should do this more often. Everyday moments captured in a strong storytelling way. Simple, effectual, interesting even for everybody else to look at!

  • First up - well done to the winner for an interesting and well lit shot. It really does have a sense of elsewhere about it. Mine is closer to home and as the judges noted, it's a memory shot. My daughter and father often play games like chess, cribbage etc and it's a good imagememory to bank. Thanks to the judges for taking notice and providing a good comment. Camera Fuji X100. Cheers - M Chant.

  • It's strange, it's good, it's different, it's daring use of a lot of empty (black) space. We think that is what we like about this.

The picture has been taken at the coast of Ireland and ”the figures” you see are a close-up of the sprays from the waves when they hit the cliffs. • I seems like early morning in a place far from everything. It could also be the site of a busy festival the day after. It has the atmosphere of being separated from things. It's a good feeling in a photograph.
