  • Simple concept, good composition, sometimes the simple shot just works the best. I like it, maybe more environment would help, but still a great simple climbing shot.

  • Processing a little harsh (like another one I am assuming is by the same photographer), but still a dynamic shot, caught the decisive moment well here, good stuff.

  • A Little small in the frame, but I like that the photographer is thinking outside the box and using different things in the frame to create different stories....good effort.

  • Straight forward long lens action shot, caught the decisive moment well, works for me, just wish the lighting was a little more dramatic to push this image higher up the ratings - earlier morning or later early evening might be the best time to get that great light.

  • Nice atmospheric shot which shows that atmosphere is more important than action a lot of the time, interesting choice of submission and stronger than most of the action shots here.

  • Hello, in response to your request asking to know Who I am, where I took the photo, etc. My name is Kim Supko and I am a mom with a camera. I was the team photographer for Wissahickon High School football out of Ambler, PA for the past two years. I took this photo on Friday, November 1 at my son's last high school football game after he and a teammate began to wander on the field after it was all over. I use a Canon 4Ti with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

  • Good composition, use of diaganols and colour to separate the subject and background, good angle.

  • Wish i could see more of the environment to give more context, but nevertheless still a 'whooaa' kind of shot....those guys most know what they are doing to get that boat up to that angle without it going wrong...

  • Resolution is too low really, however I like the idea of negative space and submitting something different from the norm. Good choice to include both rowers.

  • Simple image that works well with the negative space, kind of needs more action somehow, whether its movement, another character, slightly more dynamic composition, but i could see an image like this being used in a magazine as part of a 2 page spread, leaving room for text on right side, etc.

  • Nice sports shot, i hope you gave a copy to number 10, he will cherish it forever....does look a little overprocessed though to me, has a mild HDR effect that i feel is not really needed.

  • Good choice of crop, tilt shift style works OK for this, makes it a fun image, different again to a lot of the submissions, like it.

  • Nice light, works quite well as a surfing shot, don't like copyrights messages all over competition entries though, that is always something that will push your images further down the rankings unfortunately.

  • Nice shot, good choice to include the sun and use a small aperture to create the starbust, works...I wonder if it would have looked even better in colour maybe...

  • Well lit portrait, looks staged due to the backlighting and use of flash, but still works as a running image, albeit more advertising style.

  • I am honored to receive a Mark of Excellence. There are so many great submissions. This shot was taken at a local rodeo which I find to be a great place to practice my skills at capturing action images. There is so much excitement and action. This shot is of a bull rider who had been thrown off the bull seconds earlier. He is trying to get back up on his feet to get out of the way of the bull who had turned on him and was bearing down rapidly. Taken with my Canon 5D Mark 3 and Canon 300mm f4 IS L lens set at ISO 1600, f10 and 1/2000 sec. Jye-shern Jason Cheng
