  • A deep, dark and mystical atmosphere is shown in this flower image. Seeing an out of focus window screen in the background gives this photo a special touch. An image, in which you can lose yourself with imagination and dreams.

  • My name is Mark Rast. I work out of Boston doing mostly video photography. These are grocery store flowers that were sitting on my kitchen counter. It was May. It was morning. They wanted to be photographed. The camera was a Nikon D50. Lens was a Nikkor 18-200 at 105mm. 1/125. F5.6. ISO800. The pink and green background is a blossoming tree deep in the yard. In IPhoto I increased contrast and sharpness, color-boosted 3 steps, and edge blur 1 step. I didn't notice the screen until I started focusing, but then loved it. Thanks for the honor, and congrats to the winner!

  • A delicate and translucent appearance gives a lightness to this flower image. The detailing in this photo is special and the post processing very well executed. Also, how this image is set in its own frame, makes it intriguing to look at.

  • My name is Cindy Viol and I live in Oklahoma City. I am the roving conflict attorney for Western Oklahoma with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System and I always take my camera with me on my travels. This, however, was taken in my neighborhood near the Paseo Arts District. Nikon D3000, 75 mm, 1/200, f/5.6. I titled it "Ethereal." Thank you for this honor.

  • Well spotted, or maybe arranged? This photo is the most playful one, which was submitted to the flower competition this time. At least, that's how the judge sees it! Little white flowers on dark leaves - a simple and clear image. Just lovely and congratulation to this shot!

  • Thank you for the recognition. My name is Willi Vetter and I took this photo in Mai 2011 on a cloudy day in Lower Austria (Canon EOS 5d II / Sigma 150 Macro lens, F/5.6, 1/200 sec, ISO 1250, focus distance: 78 cm, b&w conversion CS5, blue filter). Although it might look arranged, it is not. The herbaceous plants on the forest soil were extensively covered with white blossoms from a tree and I just had to choose an advantageous frame. Congratulations to the winner.

  • A very nice image, which could be apple or cherry blossoms? A bit moody and dark - and also refreshing with its water drops and little highlights on them.

  • What a happy and mind opening field of sun flowers we have here! The wide angle shows the bigger picture and a sky filled with clouds compliments the flowers in a great way.

  • Many thanks for the Mark of excellence! My name is Ingrid Sellschop. I used a canon 60D DSLR with a wide angle lens, F11. It was late morning when i photographed these flowers in the West Coast national park in South Africa. A difficult time of day to photograph but the flowers are only open between 11am and 3pm during the months of August and September.

  • This is a great example of a beautiful black and whit image. The dark and out of focus hills in the background, make the light and airy flowers in the foreground visible and stand out. I also like that the photographer has chosen portrait format to capture this situation. It works very well.
