  • I'm Damian Hock and an automotive / long-exposure specialist from Cumbria, U.K. This is a 1970 Porsche 911 E that I recently shot for a private client. The shot is composed of 4 separate images, one for the background, two for the light-painting and another for the head / brake lights. I use a Nikon D300 together with a Sigma 24-70 2.8 lens and the car was lit using a cheap ebay 1600 lumen LED torch with a home made modifier attatched to the end. So a very basic set-up that can be achieved by anyone on a modest budget.

  • 2nd place runner up Well done, very professional image and great attention to detail and use of lighting, the angle is unusual but works very well and the added smoke really lifts the image

  • A friend of mine asked me if I would come with him to an Airshow. At first I decided not to do. The date comes closer and I was asked again and so I thought I could give it a try. Trying out new things is never bad! At my first Airshow I shoot the same pictures as all others. Close-ups, very low. Good, but in my eyes not really interesting shots. The pilots did really cool stuff up in the air and I decided to try to catch these actions next time. The picture above is from my second airshow where I was concentrating to do less close-ups and more action shoots. When I was shooting this event (Airshow Breitscheid 2012 / Germany) I had the chance to get some really nice and much more fascinating ones. These guys produced art in the sky. It was perfect! The picture from this Hawker Sea Fury was taken with a Canon EOS 5d Mark II, EF 400 mm DO, 1/400sec @ f16. Post was done in Adobe Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex. Thanks for selecting my work! Mathias

  • I shot this while doing a picture story on the Republic of Korea Air Force. I was in the back seat with a Leica M2 and 21mm Super Angulon lens, but I needed to see the oriental face to make that point. I asked the pilot to push-up his visor, lean left, look at the sunset, and then took the picture. Since we were very close and in the blind spot under the tail of the other jet plane, it was not a place to be for very long. Thanks so much for the honor. Still trying for one of those new Leicas! jwvestal

  • Superb capture and great post edit work on this one. Love the low view point and the feel of the car about to leave rather than simply too static, great scene and great lighting too

  • Wow ... so many thanks to the jury and Tim, for chosing my photo for the TOP10 of this contest. It's a great honor for me. The photo shows an Irmscher Opel Calibra 2.0 from 1994 and was taken in an underground carpark in Germany. I used a Canon EOS 7D with the 24-105mm and a simple Canon flash. The photo consists of 7 single photos and nearly 5 hours post-production. Btw, this was my first try to light a car with flashes, because outside it was raining.

  • First of all I would like to thank the judges for selecting my work into the top 10 overall! This shot was taken back in April 2013 with my Canon EOS 5D MkII and the 24-105mm 3.5 L lense. Both cars are customized by the german tuner Sievers-Tuning. The one on the left is a Mercedes G65 AMG with approximately 730HP and the one on the right is the little brother, a Mercedes G63 AMG with about 560HP. Both cars were sounding astonishing! I shot this by using a simple lighttube and my camera. The actual shooting took me about 1-1.5 hrs and postedit took me about 5-7 hrs. As many of you guys know shooting a black car is really really exhausting because of the reflections in the paintjob. Sometimes you think you are shooting a mirror. But in the end it still is a lot of fun maybe exactly because it\'s as hard as it is. If you guys like my work just have a look on my portfolio on my website. It will not be the last time for me taking part in this competition that is for sure!

  • OMG! I didn't realize my shot received a mark of excellence! Thank you so much. It's an interesting story. My boys and I were at an air show looking at exhibits inside an open hangar. Suddenly there was a thunder clap and the rush of falling rain. When I turned, there in front of me was the plane you see here with visitors who'd all ducked for shelter under its wings. Details: Taken with a Leica M6 and 35mm f1.4 ASPH Summilux lens on Cape Cod.

  • My name is Sidney Cheung. Thank you for the "Mark of Excellence". "A Peeping Car" shows that shooting cars can be in this unique way. It was a good training about the scene of my vision. The photo was taken in my Germany trip. I used a Leica S2 with 70mm standard lens and place the camera in a lower angle.

  • To be given the pleasure of a "Mark Of Excellence" and having the opportunity to add a comment in my first two weeks of participating in the "I Shot It" community just makes me so happy, thank you very much! This Shot was made in Thessaloniki this summer during a quick turnaround of the aircraft. For those moments when I am traveling light I like to take my Leica X1 with me, it suits you almost everywhere you go. And we now there might be a good shot just about anywhere. This one from the Airbus A320 was converted to black and white and tonetuned with Snapseed. I like to have people in my photographs, therefore I was happy to at least have the conversation of the ramp agent and the loading master below the right wing in my frame. I am really amazed of all those wonderful, dramatic, happy and story telling photographs within "I Shot It", keep up everyone, Yours Sven

  • Thank you very much- My name is John Fulton out of the Bay Area, San Francisco. This was a car from a private collection up in Napa. Shot in kind of a tight garage with about 4 or 5 other cars. The Porsche has always been a design of simple and elegant lines. Shot with Canon 5D MKii and 24-70MM 2.8 lens. A bit of contrast and white balance in Aperture, but that was about it. Honored to be chosen!
