  • Thank you so much for the acknowledgment (and the cash!). This was shot with a Canon EOS 40D, using a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L. This was one of those magical moments when the photographer disappears, becomes part of the landscape, and the subject allows us to see him as though unobserved. I am a 51 year old animator/illustrator/designer/dancer currently living in Marin County, CA, USA.

  • This is a special moment of two little children. There are strong and real emotions in it. The elder girl looks straight into the camera with a brave and protective look on her face. She wants to show everyone how much she cares. I really love it!!

  • Thank you so much for the acknowledgement. This photo shows a brother and sister who have been are being torn apart because of circumstances that are beyond their control. Kaikua, the brother, is weeping because this is the last time he will see his big sister for the next four months. Gracie, the big sister, consoles her brother calming him. As they parted ways and she was out of his presence she lost her composure showing just how strong she was in the moment. Shot with a 5D mkII & 16-35mm.

  • Thank you for this Mark of Excellence! After an afternoon photography session with this darling little girl and her brother, I was packing up my gear and preparing to leave when she scooped up the family cat, who co-operated willingly. I caught this photograph as the final image from the session using a Canon EOS 60D with 18-135mm lens. Minor post-processing in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom included local tone adjustments and sharpening.

  • This photo is really conspicuous to me. The picture is calm but definitely not boring. It is focused on this lovely little girl with a bunch of colorful balloons. It looks like a postcard from a very famous child photographer.

  • Thank you so much Judges! What an honor, especially considering the incredible company I am in. My name is Jon Wolfson. This photo was taken in Marina Del Rey, Ca. on my daughter's first birthday. We'd planned a celebration for her on the beach, and it turned out to be a misty cloudy day. She certainly was no less happy without the sun. Also, it is my favorite weather. She was so fascinated by the balloons, she just kept wrapping herself up in them and keeping them with her wherever she went. I used a Nikon D90 with a 16-85 Nikkor. This was actually a longer shot, which I cropped - and lost a little sharpness in doing so. But I loved the picture so much I didn't let it bother me. I processed in Photoshop, added some color saturation to the shirt, tutu and balloons. A little vignette and a touch of mood from OnOne Photosuite.

  • My name is Kylee. I shot this photograph using a Canon Rebel T3i while on a mission trip in Cap Haitian, Haiti. This little 14 month old girl was sitting on a four foot wall just swinging her legs watching every move we made All by herself. She touched my heart and is one of my favorites of the trip.

  • I spent the new year's eve in a cottage in the Alps, surrounded by my friends and their sons. I took the chance for some extraordinary natural light portraits, catching them busy at having fun all around the clock. In this very shot, they're peeking out of a table soccer, attending at a raging game. I loved its simmetry, and the strange light coming from fluorescent fixtures. Nikon D600, 85mm/1.8 wide open. -Roberto D'Antoni

  • Hi, My name is Steven Jermaine, I am a lifestyle fashion photographer who takes pictures everyday all day especially at my church where this was taken. I owe god everything for all he has done in my life. I am happy that I was considered and given the mark of excellence. This was shot with a Sony RX1, a wonderful little full frame camera with high capabilities. I edited this in Lightroom 4 as with most of my pictures, using curves for the most part. Thanks again, I am truly grateful.

  • What a great way to start my day! Thank you! My name is Deborah & I am from Southern Illinois, USA. I shoot with a Canon EOS 60D. I used LR3 to edit, but for this particular photo all I did was sharpen & crop. It had been raining & this little girl had never played in mud puddles before ~ so ~ we jumped in! Her squeals & giggles made the day & the photo special. You can see the rest of them on my blog at http://deborahturnerphotography.blogspot.com
