  • There is a darkness to this image, it shows how everything in life has an ending. Also, having this photograph taken through a window screen gives it a special mood and effect. In our digital age, it almost could be mistaken as being pixelated. Also the colors work well and in harmony. And of course - it always comes down to great light! This is definitive one of the artistic photos in this competition. Congratulation form the I-Shot-It team!

  • This is my very first photo competition entry, and I am incredibly honored to have my photo featured among these exquisite works of nature photography. My name is Jacob Hillis (but I'm known primarily as Key Alan.) I am a writer, photographer, and recording artist from Rochester, New York USA. This photo was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel xsi and is of a dying tulip plant which was gracing my kitchen windowsill. So often I see the idea of "new life" in flower photography- I decided to do the opposite. Thanks again for this honor!

  • Simplicity in coloration and the spot-on focal point on a little water drop makes this one of the competition's winner! This flower is definitely at the beginning of it's life - full of strength and energy.

  • Thank you so much for honoring my photograph with the Mark of Excellence!!! This is one of my favorite photos taken with a Sony a550 and Sony macro lens. I like to shoot in the early mornings to catch the dew, I feel it adds to the photo. Thanks again for choosing my photo!

  • What a positive photograph this is! Shooting against the sun is well very handled. The sun seems to be almost disappearing and the viewing point underlines this.

  • Thank you so much for this honor! My name is Clair, and I live in Virginia. This photo was taken a few years ago right after I pulled my first DSLR out of the box: an Olympus E620. After taking a few shots of these small flowers (they're only about 2 inches wide in person) I got the idea for this shot, which resulted in me laying face down, sprawled out in a mulch bed, haha.I really wanted to try and capture the way the sun transmitted through the petals. Although I still love to photograph flowers, dog photography and macro still lifes are my passion. Feel free to check out my flickr stream. Thanks Again!

  • Thank you very much for this honor! You are correct, this tiny plant is a natural beauty - and a very special one. Euphrasia (Eyebright) is wellknown for its healing capabilities, especially of inflammatory diseases like conjuncititis or sinusitis. I took this image in the Austrian alps in Tirol with a Sony A700 and a Minolta 200/2.8 APO lens with distance rings at f8. Almost no post processing, only noise reduction and a bit contrast optimization was done. Christian Bernfeld, Austria

  • Many of the submitted flower photographs have a warm feeling to them. This one is different. Spring hasn't quite arrived, and it is still cold out there. The blueish color gives it all away. In this image we like the composition and the selected focus especially. Very well done!

  • The dynamic of the stem, coming into this picture diagonal, makes this image one of the top photos in this composition. This is quite a striking photo, and also the green and orange color work well.

  • Whoa! First of all I love this photography contest. My name is Jade Wood and I am , like all the rest that were honored with the Mark of Excellence, also very honored. My camera and I are good friends, an Canon EOS Rebel xsi, we go everywhere together. We live in Hendersonville, NC, not far from the Blue Ridge Mountain range. I took this photo at Newfound Gap on the road to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It stood out amonst a field of daisies. It was the odd one in the group, showing it's backside and not waving with the rest of the field. Congratulations to the winner and all those receiving the Mark of Excellence. A Big Thank You to the Judges.

  • The words intimate and private come to our minds when observing this photo. Partially because of the deep pink color but also because of the close-up. The paddles have a velvety and soft appearance. You almost get sucked into this blossom.

  • Diving into a bed of tulips! Beautifully composed and soft colors make this photo well balanced. Also, that the blossoms are all at human eye level makes this photo quite appealing to look at.

  • I'm Jeni, I currently live in Pickett, WI. I took this photo last spring at The Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, WI with my Nikon D3000. I drool over their tulips every year, but they're usually done blooming by the time I remember that I wanted to stop & take some photos; this year I didn't miss out. :) I ended up on my knees, half into the dirt at the end of the garden, to get the perspective I wanted. It's one of my personal favorites.
