  • Bright and bold colors with a tight crop make this an excellent photo. This is one of the most spectacular images, which has been submitted to this flower competition. A warm appearing orange, in contrast to translucent air bubbles all over the flower, and this set against a purple background. Congratulations - it works!

  • Well cropped and executed photograph, which doesn't need a lot of words. Abstract and still recognisable making this a superb shot. The complimentary colors of red and green are strong and work well, and only a tint of color for its background. Great!

  • Lovely, gentle and delicate, how this flowers were captured. I seems to be in a land of snow and coldness, but it might be spring, or is its stem disappearing under water? Superb depth of field make this photo a stunner!

  • Capturing flowers in black and white can be a challenge, since color is an important aspect of flowers. This photo has great composition and a dynamic direction, how the petals inside the flower grow.

  • Every summer I grow Sunflowers in my back yard (Houston, TX). I am truly crazy about them. Their cycle of life from the seed it sprouts from to the seeds it produces is fascinating to experience first hand, and the birds and insects it attracts is magical as well. I have photographed them from every angle and since I am a huge fan of B&W, it was a natural direction for me. I am honored to have this photograph noticed by the judges, as it is truly one that makes me smile:) Dion Nelson

  • This image has a wonderful flow. I can picture it on a cover of a record, or in combination with a fashion shoot. The low sunlight gives it a special touch. This field with flowers is nicely captured and takes your mind away. Definitely one of this competitions winners!

  • Hi, my name is Elmar Egner and I am situated in the beautiful town of Quedlinburg, Germany. I took this photo in a public Garden near the castle of the town. It was late afternoon and the light was just gorgeous! I used a Fuji X-pro 1 with it's 35mm lens. Post processing is minimal adjustment of contrast and cropping, the rest is out of camera.

  • Normally, this kind of flower is being pictured as a delicate fluffy and white flower. Here we can see the same kind, but pictured in a different way. Reduced to only one of its characteristic seeds. And still, this photo shows all what's needed to be recognised. The plain background sets the subject well apart to the front. Great photo!

  • The simplicity with only yellow and black, as well as the straight-forward composition makes this image unique and standing out from others. This is a different way how to deal with the subject. It's simple and graphic. A beautiful way this is!

  • Hello, I am Christino. I would like to thank you for the recognition in choosing my photo as one of the finalists. As I was sitting on my porch talking to my mother I just happened to glance over and saw this flower nicely illuminated and the great shadow cast from the garden edging and the flower itself. So I grabbed my camera took a few shots and came out with this photo in the end. This image was taken in my yard(SE Michigan), with a Canon T3i, 50mm@1/100 f9, minimal processing with LR.

  • A flower, hardly recognisable as such. How this photo was cropped has a big impact of its originallity. This, as well as colors and composition make this photo one of our winners. Thank you for submitting it.
