•
When prehistoric meets the moment of here and now.

A wonderfully executed photograph which makes the judges revisit the image over and over again. The blurred background gives a clear focal point to the front, and grey-shades are spot on here. A timeless and classic winner!

 • First of all, I would to thank you for choosing my picture as a winning photograph. It makes me very happy, not only because of the fact of winning the grand prize, but also because for me this is a first time of winning a prize in such a prestige competition! It is a great joy for me and my son, who is on the picture. This photograph is a combination of four different pictures . I am glad that all the work I put in it paid off and that it was appreciated. Once again, thank you very much!

 • This is a very daring photograph, both by the photographer and the subject. It is a lion, a man, a woman, a doll or perhaps Napoleon ... or all of them in one. The image develops and changes in front of your eyes. You have to think about what you actually should think of it. A very unusual, honest and daring portrait.

 • Different sides of the life-circle presented almost as a poster - a baby and an old man. Beautiful, how these big and loving hands cradle the new life.

 • It's all about the right chemistry! My love for the human soul and connection attracted me towards portrait photography, but is not limited. My photographic signature style creates a new kind of photography mixing different art mediums to produce unique Made-To-Measure artwork made with LOVE. The photograph was taken in my studio in Montreal city, using a Fuji S5pro and a 24-70mm Nikkor lens. I used a few colors and textures filters in Photoshop to give it this old rustic grungy feeling.

 • This photo shows a beauty in its lightness. The rainbow colors just underline this feeling. Late afternoon light with a long shadow and the hazy background create a certain atmosphere. Nicely spotted!

 • Thank you for this honor! I took this picture on a beautiful day in San Diego, CA. A kite shop in the area had set this up nearby, and a father and son were enjoying it thoroughly. I was thrilled to capture this moment! I used a Nikon d7000 and 30mm 1.4 lens.

 • So much devotion being shown by a young lady and her harp. We like the serious feel and composition in this image, and how the strings go in front of the girl's face.

 • Thank you for the Mark of Excellence. This was taken in Myanmar, shortly after the lift of the tourism boycott and just before the wave of change that has since been sweeping the southeast asian country. It's a beautiful country with a very subdued lifestyle. Fred Bonatto

 • A capture of what appear to be a routine performance. Very different expressions, and one can imagine how they will all have to perform. Or maybe it is an audition. Beautiful tones and composition, and quite unusual subject.

 • Elizabeth Yureklier DiRosa China @ Epcot - Chinese acrobats- no post processing..While on shoot that focused solely on monochrom imagery to learn my néw cameras censors -- I went to one of my favorite locations and found these beautiful girls from China that had more drama going on in the back ground then the performance it-self.Thank you so very much for honor in your most demanding completion,

 • I have been interested in photography for many years but have only taken it seriously for the past year. I work as a PA in northern NY and had the opportunity to attend a medical conference in Maui, HI. This photo was taken at the Sheraton Maui at Black Rock. I used a Nikon D90 with kit 18-105 lens at 105mm. I exposed for the background and used a shutter of 1/1600 for this image. Post processing was a levels adjustment and multiply filter. It is hard to make a bad photo in Hawaii!!

 •
Minimalism pure!

Simple and strong in its expression and obvious in its meaning - and this being achieved, only with black lines on a white background. It's all about the shape of the person.

 • Thanks for the Mark of Excellence! This photo is taken in Paris near Rue Lafayette with a Canon 450D and Canon 28mm f/2.8 lens. Not much post processing. Only conversion to b&w and worked on contrast and light. I was actually waiting for the guy on the right who worked for a hotel and waited for cars to park at the hotel. But then the old woman entered the crossing and the other woman in the front started to control the traffic.
