  • This photo was taken at Brookfield Zoo outside of Chicago. The mother and calf had done this one time before while I was standing there. I was really disappointed I missed the shot. They must have felt my disappointment as they did it one more time. I shot this with a Nikon D80. I no longer use that camera, I shoot with D700.

    • My name is Barbara Simmons, a photographer based in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. I captured this barn during a freak ice storm in Southern Georgia. It was taken with a Nikon D7000...Some color adjustment and an added texture and voila!

    • U start by taking the attached picture, which I called it: Brown Winter” as I was impressed by the red color of the trees without snow (Wisconsin….remember?). That, few days after, we had a lot of snow so I went back to the same spot and took another picture – now I called it Red & White….. I’m using Nikon D7000 with AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6GII ED. Snow pictures always frighten me…..in this case, I use ISO 160, f 5.6 with very high speed…. Picture location is near Paoli, WI

    • Thanks for selecting my photo. My name is Lee Mclaughlin. I live in Petaluma, California, 45 Mls north of SF. I find Still shots to be a powerful medium for expression and story telling. I carry a camera always. I use Canon Digital Cameras and always have a wide Lens. Always. -Seeing this beauty, it seemed to be taking a bow. The flowers only came half way around. I added the right half. Nature deserves to be captured, appreciated and shared. Cheers ,Lee

    • My name is Arlene Bluestein, and this photo was taken on a chilly November day near my home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The autumn leaves were at their peak and falling quickly in the brisk wind. By the next day, the tree limbs were bare. I shot this using a Panasonic Lumix Digital DMC-ZS8 with Leica zoom lens. Thank you for this honor!
