I was so fortunate to have everything line up in this split level shot how I envisioned it when this curious juvenile Humpback (Megaptera novaeangilae) cheekily mugged our vessel, going vertical with its rostrum poking out of the sapphire blue waters of Maui, Hawaii. This population of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangilae) are the ones that migrate down from Alaska to mate and give birth in these waters before making the long trek back to the nutrient rich feeding grounds in Alaska.
