Well the image is pretty gory but what an amazing and unusual scene.

Thank you for choosing this image among the winners. I took this photo at the Chobe National Park in Botswana. It was an amazing but also disturbing sight. In this part of Botswana lions figured out how to take down an elephant, a very unusual behaviour and not seen in other parts of Africa. The lioness was taking turns with other two sisters to guard the killing from scavengers, and no doubt she was in control. Nikon D750, 200-500mm f/5.6, focal length 500mm, 1/1500 sec at f/6.7, ISO 280. I converted the photo into black & white in post processing.
