Judges Comment

You have caught the very dramatic light of the Quiraing beautifully in this clever square of two equal halves, well done, this was an early favourite.

Thank you so much for having considered my photo among the MoE! I'm honoured. My name is Andrea, I shot this photograph of the breathtaking Quiraing valley in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, in August 2016. Contrary to my hopes, I found a lot of sunny days with "annoying" clear sky that week, very beautiful for hiking, a bit less for the kind of dramatic and moody photography I like to shoot. But that morning, I woke up in my tent surrounded by the fog caused by very low clouds, and I rushed to the Quiraing in no time. The atmosphere was awe-inspiring, as those clouds contributed in evoking the raw, primordial beauty of the landscape. I shot with a Nikon D600 with a 24-85mm lens.
