Thank you for the Mark of Excellence in this competition. My name is Heather Sprague, and you can find me under the name of Fey LittleWing Photography. I am not a food photographer by trade, but I imagine, like most photographers, I am always looking for a great shot of things that catch my eye. These mushrooms did just that. Taken with one of my Canon cameras, if I remember correctly, a PowerShot, I snapped these in San Francisco while on a day trip with friends. I was just drawn to how they were laid out in the box, as if to say, "Pick Me!" If I choose to edit a photo, my process is to edit until I feel the right emotional response. I ran the photo through a Bleach Bypass filter, and felt that emotional click when I saw the dark, shallow shadows that the mushrooms cast in the box.
