Bird Photo Competition 5 2013 : Entry Number 177

Seeing the ducklings revealed through the foreground vegetation lends a sense of discovery. Their tightly huddled heads are a heartwarming sight.

This image was shot with a Nikon D700 and a 70-200mm Nikon lens. This nest was very well hidden in a large flower pot at an old water mill. It was one of our dogs that actually found the nest as it was so well hidden you would walk right past it. Only took a few shots at 200mm as I didn't want to disturb the nest. A few days later they were gone.
