Congratulation to Petar Sabol from Croatia who won $190.80 and a Leica C worth $700. The judge David Chambon also picked 9 other super macro shots.

There were 159 entries. It was great to see a variety of subjects in the entries, such as a broken light bulb, a watch, and an eye. We shouldn't be surprise that insects and spiders are very popular subjects for macro shots because of their size and interesting shapes. The judge is looking for composition, use of colours, sharpness of the main subject, and originality. A new macro competition has started, and we look forward to seeing more of your fantastic macro shots.

Bird Photo Competition 2 2014 Results

The standard of photography in the latest bird photo competition was amazingly high. The winner is a professional photographer with one of his bird photos published on the cover of the a National Geographic magazine. When the standard of photography is this high it is very difficult for amateur photographers to win such a competition. We welcome entries from professionals and amateurs, but at the end of the day the judge will choose the best photo, and the judge does not know who took each photo.

Congratulations to the winner who has won $360.00 plus a Leica C worth $700. We look forward to hearing from the winner soon but we suspect he could be cooped-up in a bird hide somewhere.

Thank you to everyone who entered their wonderful bird photos. There were 300 entries. Thanks also to our bird photo judge Mike Atkinson.
