There were 67 entries. Thank you to everyone who entered. The next food competition will sadly be the last food photo competition. If you have any ideas for a new theme we would love to hear from you.
Congratulations to the winner Tobias Ryser from Switzerland, and all the runners-up. Tobias has once again shown us that he is a very skilled landscape photographer with this stunning snow scene. Tobias has many more wonderful photos on his website: tobiasryser.ch. Tobias also won this landscape competition proving that landscape photography is very much a skill and not just luck. The first place prize was $622.00 and a Leica C camera worth $700.
I SHOT IT will be providing the platform for the Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award. All I SHOT IT members will be able to vote for an entry, and the lucky winner with the most votes will receive a cash prize of 2,500 Euros.
Last years results are here: 2014 Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award
Last year we gave away ten Leica C cameras to ten I SHOT IT members. To win a camera all they needed to do was add a vote.
The Settings Page now has a new font menu. You can choose from a number of different fonts, and in an instant change how the I SHOT IT website looks. Combined with the background theme setting, I SHOT IT is becoming more and more customizable. We think it's fun to allow everyone to customise the look of this website, and we've now made it easy to do so. Some people may find that some fonts are clearer and more readable than others, so it does have a practical purpose.
We have started with a selection of nine free fonts. There are many free fonts that are difficult to read and messy to look at, so I hope that you like the ones we have chosen. One of my personal favorites is the Ubuntu font, which I'm using at the moment white I write this blog entry. If there are any fonts that you would like us to add to this list, please let us know : Contact Us.
Congratulations to Levien Lockefeer - a young photographer from the Netherlands. Levien has won the super prize of $8,760.00 and a Leica M MONOCHROM body worth $8000.00. We hope that this win will be perhaps a spring board for a career in photography.
Thank you to everyone who entered one of the 876 entries. As always the standard of photography in this black-and-white competition was very high with so many fantastic photos. We'd like to thank the judges Thorsten Overgaard and Birgit Krippner for looking at the large number of entries and picking out the best shots.
We are very pleased to announce the results of our first horse photo competition. The competition has been won by Daniel Rodrigues from Porto in Portugal. Daniel has won $264.00 and a Leica C camera worth $700. The judge Illona Haus has picked ten winning horse photos from 132 entries. Thank you for all your entries and we look forward to seeing more horse photos in the next horse photo contest.
Congratulations to Richard Kubica from Slovakia who has won this macro photography competition. This macro photo of a fly has a stunning amount of detail. Richard has won $198.00 and a Leica C worth $700. Thank you to everyone who entered one of the 165 entries and to our judge David Chambon who has chosen 10 of the best macro shots.
How exciting - the announcement of the winner of the 500, 000 Facebook 'likes' Free Competition. If you have followed the progress of this competition, we offered free entry and a massive $20,000 for a competition to celebrate this milestone in our development and to thank you, our wonderful participants - the subject 'selfies'! Inspired by I SHOT IT's involvement in the Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award, we combined both judging and voting to decide the final prizewinner.
We chose the 30 photos that we thought were the best and combined them into a shortlist thrown open to votes from our registered members - in the same way as our weekly FREE Competition.
We'd like to congratulate our lucky winner, to thank everyone who participates in all of our competitions - lots of cash, binoculars and cameras have been sent out every week - and with our new competitions starting at regular intervals we look forward to rewarding lots more of you over the coming months. Happy 2015 to everyone!
It has been another wonderful year for I SHOT IT and once again, many thousands of photos have been submitted into our various competitions . The whole world loves I SHOT IT - we reached a staggering 500,000 Facebook likes this year - the voting for the celebration 'selfie' competition finishes today when we will know who has won our massive $20,000 cash prize! Thank you for making it such a great year!
Our strong partnership with Leica Camera AG continues, with Leica cameras as prizes in all of our main competitions - and we have extended the range with Horse and Street Photography Competitions in 2014. We'd like to thank all of our hard-working judging team for their commitment to our continued success.
Our biggest innovation this year has been the Mobile Phone Panorama Competition, recognising that mobile phones are rapidly becoming the 'digital camera in your pocket' - and who didn't have a 'selfie' stick or a sports camera on their wishlist this year?
We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year - we are looking forward to new ideas and innovations and all of your wonderful photos in 2015.
The I SHOT IT team
You may have noticed that in the last few days the I SHOT IT homepage has changed. We are continuously working on the I SHOT IT website to make it easier to use, and nicer to look at. At the top of the homepage you can now see the five newest photos. The centre of each photo is cropped into a square image. Clicking on a photo will open a page to reveal the entire photo.
The rest of the homepage below is split into two columns. On the left is a list of all competitions that are open to new entries. On the right are a number of sections containing links to recent blog entries, recent results, and competitions where voting is active. There is also a place where you can change the background theme for the whole of the I SHOT IT website. You can choose from a number of dark or light backgrounds.
